Seriously, though: Palmer is awesome! This book is awesome. It officially just took over Harbinger as my favorite VEI title. This is how comics should always be.
How has no one mentioned on here yet that there is a Harbinger power of which Harada does not have knowledge? This was the most intriguing aspect for me.
Also, does anyone think we might be dealing with a somewhat powered down and vulnerable Bloodshot for a while? That would make this book really interesting as he has been pretty indestructible so far.
So many possibilities for this title, and I love the massive overlap between my two favorite titles!

Re: Bloodshot & H.A.R.D. Corps #14 Discussion
Busy week - finally read this last night. I am with you kids. Hit this out of the park.
Strangely, I read Harbinger in a frenzy, and was a little disappointed. Put this to the side, and it was a clear best of the Wednesday scenario. Not certain that I had ever loved a Bloodshot most in a month.
Even Shadowman got there once (or perhaps twice)...
My favorite two books this month were this and Shadowman 10.
Saying something there.

Really solid, terrific start here. Great characterization (especially with Palmer) and great intro to the new team. Superstar is your proto-typical recruit but I like Granite, she didn't join on any principle stand or because she's a thrill-seeker, but so she can provide for her family. Preacher is an interesting choice, not only because of any potential problems he may have with killing but also any problems he may have with PRS and their methods. When discussing the ghost mode, he listened as Charlie detailed pretty much how PRS tortured and killed a child. How long can Preacher abide with such actions?
Loved it, looking forward to the next.

I had absolutely no excitement for the addition of Hard Corps to this title, and was worried that Bloodshot would lose it's focus.
I was completely, 100%, absolutely wrong.
I found this issue exciting, and was impressed at the story structure and how it progressed!
I didn't think that this was Lupacchino's art in spots was not as strong as some of her other issues, but it was still incredible. She's in my top three favourite Valiant artists.

+1, Very Very Good Issue. Totally enjoyed this and I was never a fan of HARDCorps. Well written, alot of meat on the bones here. The Beyonder wrote:I had absolutely no excitement for the addition of Hard Corps to this title, and was worried that Bloodshot would lose it's focus.

Sure, Gunslinger and Wolverine would make a great team. A tough as nails loner from Canada and Wolverine. Once PRS dissects him and is able to duplicate his powers of omnipresence and super comic sales all it would take is one command to Lifeline and we'll have a megahit comic. Then instead of the preposterous notion of one man being on multiple teams at once we'd get titles like "Jan Chahosky: Agent of Karma".kjjohanson wrote:So you're saying you'd buy a book featuring H.A.R.D Corps and a guy with an amazing healing factor and a spotty memory when it comes to his origins?Spylocke wrote:It turns out that adding "and H.A.R.D Corps" to titles is a step in the right direction. If all prior powers are based in the mind they are likely subconsciously willing themselves to follow the objective and the direction they want as opposed to falling through the ground uncontrollably. That's my guess.
That should read psiot not prior.

I agree with Jmatt; I'm glad they made Palmer a bit more human. I didn't like any of the HARD Corps in Harbinger Wars.
I'm still not sure why Maniac is there though. The dude's so flakey he's more of a liability than an asset. Kozol's a sleeze, but I'm glad that Palmer knows he's a sleeze and isn't afraid to say it. (Also, bonus points for reviving the "Gunslinger" moniker. I wondered why the name wasn't used in HW.)
Both here and in HW, they used the a psychic scream called a "neural spike". But whenever I see those words, I keep expecting to see a pink energy spear. Anyone else want to see that sadistic SOB, Spikeman?
(BTW, I got the HW trade, and, like the first Bloodshot trade, they made some corrections. Stronghold and Ion are properly colored/addressed, and James calls out to Katherine instead of "Maggie".)

I really liked how Palmer was portrayed in HW. He seemed like the kind of guy he should be, that is, someone with PTSD. I'm not convinced he has calmed down since last we saw him...we'll know if there is a scene where someone cuts him off.
I really like how it was stated that PRS aren't the good guys just a lesser evil.
Now to complete the book we need a rebooted Flatline for H.A.R.D. Corps.

so just a theory about what Harada did to Bloodshot, going off the preview for the next issue: Bloodshot is covered in lesions and has an immunodeficiency, which seems to be making him a metaphor for HIV. when Ivar told Archer that he kills Bloodshot in the future, could that be meant in a good way, like curing cancer or AIDS?

...WOW
I loved Duane and I thought he did a fantastic job on Bloodshot (Gamma was a little bit weird though), I have to say this book could be shaping up to take top spot in the Valiant line.
This book took me the longest to read out of all ones released this week, and I savored every moment of it. Maniac got big laughs from me, Palmer is such a badass mother *SQUEE* I love him to death already. The new recruits to hardcorps were handled in such a convincing and sympathetic way.
For the first time, Harada was shown to be more menacing than PRS which I thought was fantastic.
This book blew me away 10/10

Actually, that just reminded me of one episode of Chuck in which he excuses Sarah disappearing to do spy stuff by telling everyone she has a spastic colon. "A really spastic one. It just spazzes right out!" Which people later ask her about. Funny ensues.MarkRoseHFX wrote:hunter_peterson wrote: Obviously that kid was pooping. Realism, people!![]()
now there's a plot device that should be used more in comics. I wonder why Peter Parker never thought of that. "Sorry I had to leave you when the Green Goblin showed up but I really needed to poop"

And about Disciple (I think that was his name?)... everyone's assuming he'll be morally conflicted, but what if he turns out to be a hellfire-and-brimstone type super religious person? He came off as a slightly unhinged fundamentalist to me. Kind of like Maniac before he went completely nuts, except different philosophically. So he might be more like I AM SMITING DEMONS FOR THE LORD than conflicted. I think Granite will be our go-to for doubts.
