Started buying there during the first Valiant era...and they didn't really stock much Valiant then either. Their VEI orders have gone up over the past year, but I've yet to see a variant of any kind; so they could maybe use convnicing.

Re: Bring me your LCS!
Two of the three shops that I visited regularly during the first Valiant Era are no longer around. (One of these was also the regular shop of one of Valiant's colorists, which is how I managed to snag the original color art for the splash page for Harbinger 7.) The third is still around and one of the best shops on Long Island; it's been a while since I've been there, but they deserve a plug, so here it is.dbngaa wrote:Comics & Collectibles

Comic Masters is a good store but not much into Valiant from what I've seen, that's why I use Encounter.
The rest are all lame.

I think there is /was a girl named Ashley Lanni that works there. I got ten sketches at the recent Tampa Con from both pros and non. The Saga sketch she did for me was easily my favorite of the bunch. I'm definitely getting something from her again if she's at another con. Cool chick.bygranddesign wrote:wow...awesome! I've only talked to her a couple of times (I rarely go to my LCS on the weekends)...but she is very cool and very talented!

I dropped a lot of coin at Fourth World back in the day, nice store. Tor's in Holtsville was pretty good too.kjjohanson wrote:Two of the three shops that I visited regularly during the first Valiant Era are no longer around. Yeah, the whole back of the store (which is pretty sizable) is dedicated to board and card gamers. The place just has the right vibe. And the employees all look like they've been up all night doing god knows what.hulk181man wrote:I've been out there once or twice...good storejmatt wrote:The Encounter is the best shop in the Allentown area, I already sent the contact info.

Re: Bring me your LCS!
My other now-defunct regular shops were Flashpoint in Port Jeff (my first regular; it was the closest to me and where I picked up my first comics), and Port Comics in Cards (which was rather far from any port as far as Long Island goes, in Medford. The latter was where I was doing most of my shopping when I lived out east, since I got a 25% discount on all new books and the owner was really cool.jmatt wrote:I dropped a lot of coin at Fourth World back in the day, nice store. Flashpoint is gone? That's where my brother-in-law first lured me back into comics when I was 28. Bought issue #24 of Legends of the Dark Knight: Flyer. And I was re-hooked on comics.kjjohanson wrote:My other now-defunct regular shops were Flashpoint in Port Jeff (my first regular; it was the closest to me and where I picked up my first comics),

Re: Bring me your LCS!
Flashpoint went out of business a long time ago. Probably in the late '90s. I had two friends that worked there that turned me on the Valiant the first time around, so I can thank them for getting the pre-Unity books at cover price.jmatt wrote:Flashpoint is gone? Port Comics was bought out by the owner of Never Enough Comics and Cards, which is in the Port Jeff area. Within a few years of the buyout they closed the Port Comics location. They may have been focused on sports cards after the buyout, but Bill, the original owner, was much more of a comics guy.
