What comics are you reading now?

I'm finally in a place where I have access to my comics so I've been rereading a few things before getting into the great unread masses. So far I've gone through Rom Spaceknight #61 and Ninjak #s 2 and 5.

Been reading The Sixth Gun...enjoying it a lot!

After hearing about it on OTV recently, I read Old man Logan, and am so glad I did. Such a shocker! WOW! I haven't read much else wolverine in about 20 years but this was better than most of what I remembered. I also loved the idea of the world itself. It could really make a great campaign setting for a role playing game. A great story with a huge kick in the *SQUEE* of a shock!

I guess Elveen was right to stop me from spoilers.

I finally finished Avengers: Season One A below average story by Peter David (who doesn;t seem to know how long the story was supposed to be or in what continuity it was in) with just bland art. A few good bits like at the end the Hulk being the voice of reason and showing Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man that they were being played for fools by Loki and some of David's typical witty dialogue. I can't complain too much though I got the book for free when I bought The Avengers on Blu-Ray.

Just finished Batman: Hush it's basically another version of Batman: The Long Halloween with just an obivious murderer and weak explanations for everything. Currently about halfway through Superman: For Tomorrow and wow this is GREAT story and Jim Lee makes Superman look like a bad *SQUEE*.

Just finished Batman: Hush it's basically another version of Batman: The Long Halloween with just an obivious murderer and weak explanations for everything. Currently about halfway through Superman: For Tomorrow and wow this is GREAT story and Jim Lee makes Superman look like a bad *SQUEE*.

I had the opposite reaction to those books. I think Hush had a strong story, was well written and had amazing art by Jim Lee. Then I read Superman For Tomorrow and thought it was weak. The art is sweet though.

The story of Hush is OK but very, very, predictable (which is something I don't like) while For Tomorrow was exactly the Superman story that fans needed to be told, now whether or not they liked it is another subject. I also feel that Hush just played to Jim Lee's strengths while For Tomorrow pushed him out of his comfort zone and really challenged him.

I didn't find Hush to be that predictable, with the exception of the "childhood friend" of Bruce's that we've never heard of before which is so cliche. The relationship with Catwoman strayed very far from your typical Batman stories, and then the reintroduction of a character which led to the "is he, or isn't he" and then the final reveal of who was behind it all, I didn't see any of that coming. I thought it was refreshingly different. Haven't read the Superman story.

This week I picked up;

Jupiters Legacy #1 - been waiting for what feels like forever for Frank Quitely to draw a series I want to read again. I love his style, but I'm just not a fan of ole Supes.

East of West #2 - can't wait to read it. Loved #1.

Invincible #102 - excellent issue. Really cool turn of events!

Avengers #10 - no sign of any New Universe story here, as I suspected after the end of #9... But then the Alpha/Omega Flight appearances got me. This is my only Marvel title, and I'm ready to drop it like a hot potatoe if the NU tie-ins don't carry on.

Invincible - read from 1 - 96 over the last while. Loving it!

TWD - just getting started on a borrowed compendium v1. Expecting to love it as well.

Saga - Finished first trade, i'm wanting more, gonna have to hunt down some issues maybe as second trade isn't out until june or something.

Batman - read the first 2 arcs (court and city of owls). Pretty happy with it. Nothing revolutionary, but still a good batman story

Swamp Thing - Great, I've not read much, but I am digging it so far.

Justice League first arc - Book was ok. Looked great and writing wasn't bad. Favorite part was them shooting off about batman and his lack of powers.

I was debating on buying some of these series monthly, but there is so much t o catch up on in 20 years of missing out on comics, and even a lot of classics I never read as a kid, so I think it will still be Valiant monthly and trades for everything else

Just cannonballed my way through New Avengers V3 1-4. Solid story, I am definitely intrigued. Who doesn't love some Infinity Gems goodness?

still digging New Avengers, also enjoying Avengers Assemble, All-New X-Men (intriguing idea, not sure how I feel about what it does if they ****-up the continuity), Avengers (V5), Mind The Gap, Uncanny X-Men and still trying to get into Uncanny Avengers.

Too many Avengers/X-Men titles in my opinion but the stories are interesting enough to keep me on board. It has been about 20 years since I read Marvel with any regularity and VEI is to blame for getting me back "In The Game"

You've picked some really great stuff. If you want to try more, I'd recommend Chew from Image and Aquaman from DC.

I can see why this was #3 on my Desert island run list that we did on OTV a while back. This is amazing! The story is great and Nord's work is among the best I've ever seen.

I just read East of West #2 and I'm liking it a lot. Manhattan Projects #11 was awesome as usual - still top of my list. New Avengers still fun and edging out Avengers.

After assessing all the comics I read for the month, my top five in order are:

Manhattan Projects
Harbinger
Bloodshot
Revival
East of West and Harbinger Wars are tied

Revival surprised me, as three issues ago, I wasn't sure I was going to keep getting it.

If you like this, you really need to get the original BWS Conan stories that these are based off of.

And if you like those, you really need to get the original Robert E. Howard Conan stories that most of it is based on.

The books? Can't. Not right now. I have a TON of books that I'm trying to work my way through right now and it will be a long time before I can start reading anything else.
