Holy Grail of Valiant books? Yes, agreed. Only perhaps Magnus #1 or #0 signed would come close (though a Solar #10 CGC 9.8 SS [Shooter/Layton] with a sketch would certainly be up there too...).

August was a hell of a month for me buying-wise. Picked up about 7 Splash Pages (and had them all professionally matted and framed).

Then focused on locating key-books that I had wanted for a while but had just not got around to locating. Picked up:

New Mutants #98 CGC 9.8 SS
Spawn #1 CGC 9.8 SS
Amazing Spider-Man #129 CGC 6.5 SS
Wolverine Limited #1 CGC 9.8 SS
Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8 SS
Silver Surfer #4 CGC 5.5 SS
Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 5.5 (no SS :( )
Solar #1 CGC 9.8 SS
X-O Manowar CGC 9.8 SS
Unity #0 (Red Logo Variant) CGC 9.6 SS
Unity #1 (Platinum Edition) CGC 9.6 SS
Magnus #0 CGC 9.8 (no SS :( )
Magnus #1 CGC 9.8 (no SS :( )
Archer & Armstrong #0 (Gold Edition) CGC 9.8 (no SS :( )
Rai #1 CGC 9.8 SS

So I'm relaxing for the next 30 days before my wife asks me how much comic books cost... ...lol!
Jezoo. Whaddja win the lottery or something? And I felt guilty spending $235 on a coupla CEARS and some sig books...

Lol no, I've just been fortunate the past few years and don't mind spending a bit every now and again on things that interest me. The wife and kids were well taken care of this past Summer, so it was my turn. :)

Lol, I certainly knew who Shooter was of course, as well as (most of) the Valiant pioneers. I was specifically looking for his and Bob Layton's sigs on early Pre-Unity books such as this. I just haven't seen Mrs Jackson's sig on many books and it took me aback slightly. Certainly appreciate both her talent and the quality of her work, but Shooter was the target in this case.

A few more silver-age slabs would certainly be nice, and they don't seem to be getting cheaper as the years pass. I've been snagging a few here and there that I feel are iconic and within reach, but many of the key-issues are slowly getting out of reach (e.g. ASM #1, FF4 #1, Strange Tales #110, Showcase #22, etc.).

Harbinger #1 is my generation, as I was about 14 or so when it came out, so (for me) this buy was needed.

I stand corrected, as there is a Showcase #22 CGC 1.8 on eBay right now going for about $1,400 USD.

Bloody Oath, you gotta buy what you reckon is right for you. Whatever you decide to pay for is what it is worth to you.
.......and of course what you can afford.

Well done it looks good. :)

Wasn't JayJay Jackson one of the original MTV V-Jays?

As long as that issue had a cover still attached, that would be an awesome buy!

I was looking at prices for early Spider-Man and FF... man, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to afford those. So, what does a .5 look like? Like a lawn mower ran over it? Not knocking it... I wish I had one.

Lol! If I do decide to lighten the load a little, I'll certainly post a few pics. A lot of what I have is original hand-painted production art from old cartoon show that I had matted and framed (e.g. Ninja Turtles, X-Men, He-Man, G.I. Joe, Smurfs, Thunder Cats, etc). Mostly 80's and 90's cartoons.

Actually, what I might do with a few of them is to combine the art into a single piece, like having the Ninja Turtles battle Skeletor from He-Man and then frame it. True, this NEVER happened, but the nostalgic value of such a thing would be as they say "off the hook!" :high-five:

Here's example of one I haven't hung-up (prob going to give this one to my younger brother...):

Is that a He-Man animation cell signed by Lou Scheimer?

If so, I can provide DNA test results that prove you and I are twins who were separated at birth. :D

Picked up several Skeletor cels as well, and will soon mix/match to create a few battles because, well, um, I have the power! 8-)

Not a display. It's a shrine. Put an incense holder and an offering of fruit on the ledge to complete the look.

I'd pay $270 for that in a heartbeat.

Okay. Here's what I need from you: directions to your house and a list of times when you won't be home.

Or, if that's too much to ask, some more pictures. :D

That's cool. I've never seen a .5, and it does look like a lawnmower ran over it, but, it's an FF1 and I don't have one. Very cool!
