Check out Multiversity on Twitter, apparently it's a friendly split and Justin will work with Valiant again. No news on the replacement writer.

That stinks. I love his interactions here. I'm sure a few people will be happy with the news, however.

Re: Justin Jordan leaves Shadowman with issue #10
wow ... wasn't expecting that
Justin Jordan did a brilliant job of creating the dark magic corner of the valiant universe ... and a wonderful job of re-imagining Master Darque and created some of the most interesting characters in the new universe including Baron Samedi, The Brethren and The Abettors.
Shadowman #0 is STILL my favorite single issue of the new universe ... and its going to be very tough to knock it off 1st place.
I've had my issues with the book here and there but i'm a passionate about the book and I thank Justin Jordan for the wonderful job of breathing life into this character again..
Hopefully he comes back .... Master Darque and/or the Deadside mini series with Justin Jordan writing it would be pretty killer

Re: Justin Jordan leaves Shadowman with issue #10
IMO Justin is a good guy, entertaining to follow on twitter and very interactive with his readers/fans. Shadowman #0 is one of the best VEI single issues to date and its shame the Shadowman series didn't have the level of consistency perhaps it could have (I dropped it after issue 7).
That said, after reading Justin's 'the strange talent if Luther Strode' #1 on Comixology I was so impressed I bought the first TPB which I'm excited to read. Hopefully we see more of JJ at his best writing Valiant in the future but in the mean time I wish him well on his other books.

Anyone know who is coming on? Wouldn't issue 11 have been solicited already?

JJ, thank you for Shadowman #0 and laying the groundwork, many future successes.

Agreed. Also - having the best of both Valiant and Acclaim in the comic. Bold and well done.Paradigm38 wrote:JJ, thank you for Shadowman #0 and laying the groundwork, many future successes.![]()

Re: Justin Jordan leaves Shadowman with issue #10
I believe Issue #10 is the original #0 story. It is the continuation of the #0 issue and also a stand alone. Jim Zub is writing #11, perhaps he will continue from there? The timing of the two stand alones now makes a lot of sense. I thought it was just to get the art team in order after Zircher left, but apparently it was to leave time for a whole new creative team to come aboard. Hopefully De La Torre or Larossa (or both) will be brought in as the regular artist.Paradigm38 wrote:JJ, thank you for Shadowman #0 and laying the groundwork, many future successes.![]()

I too was a fan of Justin's work. I had some issues with the opening arc, but it was by no means bad, and I have very much enjoyed the story from issue 5 on. Shadowman #0 is still my favorite single VEI issue, and he has done a masterful job with Master Darque particularly.
First Zircher, now Jordan. I hope this book isn't cursed!

Re: Justin Jordan leaves Shadowman with issue #10
I would agree. It feels like 8 issues in and the book is still trying to find its identity. I thought the first arc was great, loved #5 which introcuded some really exciting supporting characters, issue #6 built upon that, #0 was good (though not really a true Shadowman #0 though as it was all about Master Darque) and then the wheels kinda feel off from a continuity/character building perspective.GGSAE wrote:I hope whomever they get for this book creates a stable direction. We saw Mirage ignored, forced meaning between the Dox/Jack interations and Jacks burning desire to end Master Darque once and for all yet there isn't much of a history between the two...
I think Jordan was heading in the right direction and then tried to take Shadowman too far too quickly which led to holes in the book.
I plan on sticking with the series at least until #10. Will then think about #11 pending the direction the book is heading once a new writer is announced for the subsequent arc after this one-shot. Shame, I envisioned this, Bloodshot and Quantum & Woody as my regular monthly books (from #1 onwards), now who knows...

Re: Justin Jordan leaves Shadowman with issue #10
I'm wondering if this is going to lead to a cancellation of the series (if so I hope it's only temporarily) - that fact that its still a self contained series with no real apparent linkage to the other titles (each of BS, Harbinger, A&A, XO, Q&W have some crossover aspect - if only minor) makes me think this could be one to go with little impact on the broader Valiant U.
I hope this isn't the case and that a great new arc is announced soon for #12 onwards...

What a shame.
After seeing #0 I really wanted to see what he could do with it.
Here's hoping that Valiant has another super talent lined up for Shadowman

I'm mostly surprised because I think JJ was making this book really better in the last 4 months.
Good luck, and Thanks for some great spooky stuff in #0- that is one of my fav VEI books so far.

Same here. It had picked up in the last few issues but I was pretty ambivalent about almost everything before #0. To be honest, I was kinda waiting for this shoe to drop.Magnus9178 wrote: I do agree that Shadowman #0 was one of the best issues from VEI, but I'm ready for a new writer.
I'm not even sure the damage can be undone at this point, since the comics biggest flaw was the entire unfolding of the Shadowman saga. There was never much build up for the reader, we've been dropped into the middle of a movie halfway over. I've been scratching my head ever since the last panel of the first issue: "I'm Shadowman!"

Yay!
It's about time!
But seriously, he definitely seems to be salvaging it with the last half of his run here. But even still, that much remains to be seen. Can't wait to see what the next direction is. Who is the new writer?

I agree wholeheartedly with that statement.jmatt wrote: I'm not even sure the damage can be undone at this point, since the comics biggest flaw was the entire unfolding of the Shadowman saga. Well, I have been kind of a Shadowman basher since the beginning. For my personal reading, I'm happy about the change. For me, I feel the only direction to go is up. I look forward to being able to really enjoy Shadowman the way I'm enjoying every other VEI book out now.
On a professional note, I hope everything is cool with Jordan and VEI, and I wish him well with DC, and his other books he is writing. I've only heard great things about Luther Strode, though haven't read any myself. But, best to all!

Re: Justin Jordan leaves Shadowman with issue #10
I'm not sure the July sales number but the June numbers for shadowman were right there with the rest of the titles.
+ Shadowman is one of most important and recognizable characters in the valiant universe and there is a movie being worked on ... So I don't think SM is going anywhere
I think a new creative team + a crossover with another title will give a huge boost to the comic
Im excited and looking forward to who will be taking over

Re: Justin Jordan leaves Shadowman with issue #10
it's a good thing the mgmt didn't wait for the sales to drop until they reacted. and it's a good move, almost nobody really cared about his writing on shadowman. what i don't get: how could he write probably the best issue of the vei with the #0 but relatively bland and boring stuff during the rest of the series? it's a mystery.
