Unity is an on-going, not a crossover!
Hi,
Haven’t been around here much lately as real life has been a bit hectic, but couldn’t believe no one had picked up on this from the VEI twitter feed:
@ValiantComics
Good thing UNITY is not a cross-over. Get ready for our newest ongoing!
was excited before, even more so now! Something genuinely new!

Ahh. Awkward. Hadn't noticed any reference to it in the Unity thread.

Indeed. You can hear it for yourself on the Only the Valiant podcast.lorddunlow wrote:Dino actually announced this at the Q&W release party.
If you listen very closely, you can actually hear Atom giving Dinesh dirty looks as he's spilling the beans.

Umm I'm confused. The solicits makes it look EXACTLY like a crossover. How is it an ongoing and who are the main characters???

Re: Unity is an on-going, not a crossover!
It is an ongoing monthly book- not a mini like HW. I'm sure it will involve characters crossing over, but it's not event specific like a "crossover" in traditional terms.

I had read where others on this site had referred to Unity as an ongoing, but I assumed that was just internet fanboys who didn't know what they were talking about...

But Valiant has confirmed this?
Now I'm even more excited about Unity.

I hope it's more of an anthology type book than a steady team book. Secret weapons, for the most part, was not good.

This was from a member at CBR...Thought I'd quote him since it puts a different spin on how to look at Unity.
It would also be a vehicle for characters who may not be able to carry their own title such as Ninjak, Armorines and Doctor Mirage.
An open forum...Part "team-up", part anthology, part event crossover.Seems like, rather than a "team book," this might be a "shared universe book," a place where any and all the characters from Valiant could pop up at any time. The sorts of stories that might drive such a title is really interesting to consider. It's not something that I'm aware has really ever been done to any great effect before in the sense that it's not a "mega-event" driven title like Secret Wars or COIE.
Such a platform would also be a great place to roll out new characters, re-introduce many of the hundreds of characters they own but haven't had the chance to use yet.

I like the idea of an ongoing team-up book. We'll get to see the VEI pillars acting together with intros and cameos by other old favorites without there having to be an "event" style crossover.

Re: Unity is an on-going, not a crossover!
We know Unity is gonna be an ongoing book, and it looks like some sort of "Harada fighting X-O" sort of thing.
So now Harada has fought Pete, he's fought Bloodshot, and it looks like he'll fight X-O. Hopefully Unity will just be a "Harada fighting people" book. And he'll always lose.
I'd buy that for a dollar.

The problem with an anthology is getting it right (page count; price point; lead star as draw - arguably MCP benefited from Wolverine's tenure).lorddunlow wrote:I would love an anthology, but with a name like Unity, I'd be surprised if it was anything other than a team book.400yrs wrote:I hope it's more of an anthology type book than a steady team book.
