I'd say this counts too. The price isn't the worst, but the hype...

Seems like a bunch of hype to me ... I got mine for free, live a Comic Shop News or something like that. Funny to me, all that hype for a BIN of under $3.Shakespeare wrote:I'd say this counts too. The price isn't the worst, but the hype...

bad auction or not, but i recently picked up a seald shadowman tpb from the guy w/a 3.95 (iirc) BIN. the auction description said $2.95 shipping...so i figured why not...(there is a point to this story, so bear with me).
well, after the auction ended - he mailed me and asked for $3.95 shipping. i asked what was up w/the price hike. he explained that while the description said $2.95, the auction info down around the bid area noted $3.95 shipping. he still honored the $2.95 though......so he seems to be a pretty good guy.
ok maybe no point really, just wanted to share w/the group.

That same seller says he has 'thousands' of Valiants when I enquired and he seems to be a good seller. Sometimes a little overboard with his descriptions but you are not suppose to take them too serious. I bought Acclaim Armorines #2 and #3 Vol.2 from him so he does have some worthwhile stuff. Have not received them in the mail yet though... wait a minute a forgot to pay ! Gotta go!jusdb wrote:bad auction or not, but i recently picked up a seald shadowman tpb from the guy w/a 3.95 (iirc) BIN. the auction description said $2.95 shipping...so i figured why not...(there is a point to this story, so bear with me).

Yea, he's probably an OK guy and an OK seller ... I dunno, but when I see a major exageration boarding on something more dishonest, just makes me wonder. As far as I know, this book was generally a freebie like I got mine, stuffed into a bag with my other weekly Valiants.x-omatic wrote:WOW what a complete lie. it was a freebie. i think it was marked 75 cents, but you were supposed to get one if you purchased one valiant comic book. the other thing is it did not "start all here"
that was put out in 94 sometime with the hopes of getting more people to jump aboard-the ones who were thinking-i don't know any of those characters-so i'm not gonna try valiant...it was basically a review.

Valiant reader 50,000 print run --- not rare
Given away or bought for $.75 cents --- not mail away
All previously published work --- not the start of anything new
This book was released as a way to intoduce people to the Valiant line. It was the result of high back issue prices and Valiant wanted readers to be able to know some of what had happened up to that point. This would allow a "new" fan to jump into the Valiant universe. I think they planed to publish them once a year or something.

That is my point. There are some buyers that don't know any different.Knightt_333 wrote:x-omatic... ahhh this guy on Ebay, he probably just doesnt know one thing about Valiant comics. BUT, you do have a point.
Someone ELSE who does not know much about Valiant (a new collector) may take him for his written word.
By the way, I bought this from him on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... %3AIT&rd=1
I also got the following
Magnus 0
Shadowman 43
Shadowman Vol 3 1,2,3,4,5
Solar 58,59,60
Turok Timewalker 2
X-O 66,67,68
Just under $40 for the ebay item and the others shipped.
So although it *SQUEE* me off, I didn't let it get in the way of business.

Owww! That's a nice pick up. I have one myself that was thrown into a lot of shadowmans that I bought once. Didn't realize it was the variant until later. People go look at the supposed printrun to see why its a keeper.x-omatic wrote: By the way, I bought this from him on ebay.

I think he's actually a fan. I sold him some TPBs recently. He sounded like he was going to read them? Probably just unloading some books he's already read or had as duplicates......Shakespeare wrote:I'd say this counts too. The price isn't the worst, but the hype...

Jeezusss...I had never looked at the acclaim price guide. Didn't realize the print runs were that low...are any of the stories even readable?lobo wrote:Owww! That's a nice pick up. The stories are readable but I had a hard time choking them down when I was familiar with the earlier versions. If you decide to check them out, I have X-O Manowar 1-6 Acclaim series for like $8. Need to clear space for important variants

Weird. I use Andale for my auctions too, but these add-ons aren't worth the money. This is good reason why.ZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... ategory=77
