Greg, man of many charts.
I like the colour coded sales to cost, very pleasing to the eye.

I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

I really dont think these are going up much with new ones being added unless a movie is well budgeted and in production.StarBrand wrote:I really want to snag one of these before they head back up in price.

Since the majority of copies in collections got there with at least a $400 to $500 cost...StarBrand wrote:I do. it would be unlikely that those copies will leave those collections for less.
The low cost ($400-$500) is almost entirely for newly-slabbed copies.
Those sellers don't have $400+ invested.
As long as the number of newly-slabbed copies matches the demand, we'll see the price steady.
If those newly-slabbed copies ever slow down or stop... expect the price to move up.
A few more newly-slabbed 9.8 copies might be drawn out when the price moves up,
but if $400 isn't ALREADY enough to get people to slab their copies... I'd like to know what is.
It hasn't happened yet... but there may be some eventual distinction in the market for Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8 graded
before the flood of them (only 19 graded from 2002 to 2008), versus those graded after (85 and counting, from 2009 to present).
http://www.cgcdata.com/cgc/issuehistory ... micid=5272" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If that ever does happen, the distinction could spill over into the 9.6s.
A CGC 9.6 Harbinger #1 slabbed before 2009 might be identical to a CGC 9.8 Harbinger #1 graded after 2008.
(...or if the money is there, expect a few people to try re-grading to see what happens.)

Do slabs reference slab date?greg wrote:Since the majority of copies in collections got there with at least a $400 to $500 cost...StarBrand wrote:I do. Do we know who owns the 1st slabbed copy?
Re: Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8s on eBay (past and current auctions
Can't that be said for most key books from the 80s up? How did any of them increase in value?drmirage wrote:There will be more new Harbinger #1 CGC 9.8s in the months.. years to come..

I agree with what you say with respect to the grading stiffness, but I would be surprised to see a price distinction. I'm not aware of there ever being a distinction in any other book has there? I would think there may be some people who would be more selective on buying one 9.8 over another, but that has always been true.
