Just finished up my review of the Harbinger: The Beginning HC on Amazon, might work on the new Harby Vol. 2 or A&A HC by BWS. It was a bit longer than I intended (knowing me that's no shock) but I had some things to say and so I did.

Edit: Just now posted, so my Harbinger Vol. 2 review should be up any minute now, less verbose than usual, had a few comments and some criticisms, but it still got good marks from me and I was pleased with the quality upgrade in materials, hopefully that is a step in the right direction for the rest of the TPB and HC line.

Edit 2: Archer and Armstrong HC is done too, I've been looking forward to writing that one, as just reading it again, reminded me how much I've come to love the BWS issues and how much I loathe the Baron run after that, because it just isn't as good. Maybe I'd respect Baron's work on it (as much as I love his Nexus stories) if he had been the original creator, but he had big shoes to fill after BWS left and sadly he just wasn't able to fill them and give the book the high level of quality that BWS put into it month in and month out. Still out of the original HC's released, this is the best and should be in any Valiant fan's collection, I recommend it that highly.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A4 ... cr_thx_pdp

And two more to go, need to finish up X-O Manowar HC and the Shadowman Masters and I should be caught up with all of the HC's and TPB's currently released. :D

Just got my copy of Shadowman Masters today so I'll be reading that soon (I peeked at it earlier) and would have loved to see that lucious Bob Hall Shadowman sketch (of VH1 and VEI) Jack on better quality paper, still was awesome to see regardless.

Now VEI needs to sign Bob Hall up to finish up the last 48 issues of Shadowman that are mysteriously missing from my collection for some reason

That seriously needs to happen, make it so VEI, you KNOW it will sell.

And very excited by this project too, hopefully it will come to fruition soon. :thumb:

If IDW can resurrect and sell Transformers & GI Joe under the old Marvel continuity with (mostly) the same creative teams from the original runs...

It would be pretty awesome to do that with Shadowman & Bob Hall. :thumb:

Yeah I was really excited to see Larry Hama come back and start writing the book again, I collected some of the GI Joe run back in the day and there was really good stuff in there.

But the Bob Hall Shadowman thing I hope they seriously consider, not as a competitor to the new book, but as a compliment to it, or maybe even as a backup.

Do you think that Bob Hall would *want* to continue writing VH1 Shadowman? A lot of time has passed and he's surely moved onto other things... Does he have a particular fondess for Shadowman anyone know?

By the way, if anyone can post a photo of his Old Shadowman/New Shadowman sketch, I'd really love to see it :)

Have you read his intro to the Shadowman HC yet?

He basically says he left Jack hanging (literally) and gives a wink saying he still might be there. I think if given the opportunity he would explore that world again, I know I loved reading it every month and I could tell he loved writing it, and could feel his outright anger over being told to change the book or end it and give it to someone else. (He mentions that briefly as well) Thankfully Bob Layton let him end it the way he chose to do (which in my opinion with was a defiant f-you to Acclaim) and he went onto other projects that he wanted to do (Armed and Dangerous and his Theatre work).

But with all of the art that he does for Dellamorte here on the boards and his willingness to work on the character still (old and new) I'd say he'd be up for it, if the right proposal came along. And as I mentioned I'm sure everyone here would be up for seeing new work by him, either as a new book or a backup in the current monthly, now VEI needs to entertain that idea and see if maybe they can do something with it. Add 8-16 pages, charge an extra $1 and wa-laa, new VH1 Bob Hall Shadowman is re-born.

And I'll see what I can do about a picture of the sketch, I make no promises, but I'll do my best. It's a nice quick sketch of VH1 Jack with VEI Jack coming out of some portal and looking ready to kick butt. I just wished it was on better grade paper and not jammed next to the text, but what can you do.

------

Review update, my X-O HC review should be up anytime now, that leaves the Shadowman Masters HC to be done after I read it again, and I'll be caught up finally (thank the Lord) I enjoy doing them, but they are a lot of work for me with fact checking and how verbose I get, still if it helps sales, that's what counts. I might be critical of some of the work, but it is done because I care and want to see the universe succeed and also have it displayed in a way that VEI and the fans can be proud of, and that even newcomers can get and be impressed by the high quality they paid for in material and content, cause that's what matters in the end.

Just finished the Harbinger Volume 2 review and went to do the Bloodshot Volume 2 review but according to Amazon.ca the book is not released yet so you are unable to review.

I'll have to check back later, strange it is still up for pre-order as it was released over a week ago.

I'm still the one and only set of reviews for Amazon.ca, what's up with that?

Come on Canada show some love for Valiant :hope:

nice. I picked up X-O and Harby vol 2 and Saga vol 2. $36 shipping incl. super fast shipping was sent in a flimsy little envelope and the mailman rolled it up to shove in my mailbox but they're fine. X-O has a small nick in the corner but I really don't care much they're reader copies to sit on my shelf and to lend to friends anyway.

Yeah you got that going for you, it was 33C (that's 91.3 in 'merican) here on Tuesday and it was frickin' unbearable. Thank god it only lasted one day, its 20C (68F) and that's just right. It drops to 14 (57F) at night which makes sleeping a lot easier.

Most houses here don't have AC so when it gets really hot we're screwed, luckily it never lasts long.

You must spend a lot on AC down there, I imagine you would be pretty much dead without it.

UPDATE!!!

1/2 of the "extra" project has arrived in Vt. from NYC, has been processed, and is today on its way to LA via Priority Mail!

I must say Elery and I never thought it would take this long to get this done for the group of 22. We know it will be worth it for the members because it is so unique, but we are already working on ways to shorten the time for "extras" when we announce round #2. We both thank all of you for your patience with this.

Must say that I can't wait to post the backstory to this to let you all know the many steps, twists, and turns which went into this. So, stay patient. It IS making progress. We promise.

Chuckles!!!

Bruce sent me an email the minute the 1/2 arrived at his doorstep.

1/2 is better than nothing! I'm looking forward to the back story. Bruce's really good with that kind of stuff. :thumb:

It is unfortunate that two 1/2's need to be together to make a whole package. :D

Its true, no one else has said why these are taking so long. :hope:

The longer it takes, the higher the step it becomes to create. :hm:

And my update which has nothing to do with their update or as we like to call it "Where in the world is the Secret Valiant Stash".

My Shadowman HC review is up, trouncing the review for my last Shadowman Vol 1 TPB, at over 2100 words (I think the other one was around 1700-ish) I get too wordy talking about one of my favorite characters. Still I think it's a nice review, covers all of the bases (and issues) and extras in the book.

Until next time. :thumb:
