Key Issues

I am kinda new to comic collecting in general. I was into comics back in the 90's (so was everybody else). I remember Valiant and I am starting to collect some of the back issues. I was mostly into Bloodshot and Magnus. I have a question for all you experts: Is there a list on this website somewhere of the most important key Valiant issues? I've searched, but nothing comes up. I am reading VEI Bloodshot and Harbinger, but I am more interested in collecting VH1. Thanks!

I'm just glad it was pretty good, long and drawn out. (that's what she said.)

Everything published up through Unity. Best bet is to pick up all the trade paperbacks since they collect 90%+ of the best and can usually be found for much much less than the cost of the issues.
It's not that I don't have an avatar... I've just been working on it for the last few hundred years.

Everything through Unity + Rai #0. Archer & Armstrong and Eternal Warrior through the BWS run are both very good, as is most of Harbinger through #25.

Thanks for the advice. I probably should have said I was looking for older key issues to collect, not read. The link was helpful. I understand most of the pre-unity stuff is great. Any later issues that are "must haves"?

Everyone should have at least 50 copies of Turok #1.

If you buy enough Valiant books, you'll eventually have 50 copies of Turok #1... even if you never purposefully bought 1.

I remember when I was tracking those down when I was trying to finish my collection and being aghast at the cost of those issues, but also knowing how many were printed and still getting them because I wanted a completed VH1 set of books.

I'd be curious what they cost now (haven't looked in many years), might have to go check it out.

Edit: Wow...checking out Lonestar comics, it looks like the prices have doubled and tripled in some cases (note the two issues I looked at were both consignment items) still they've gone way up in price from when I got them for $10-15 a piece.

Just watch Ebay for a little while and you'll still find them for $10 to $15 apiece.

I don't need them (thanks though :thumb: ) my LCS and Lonestar/Milehigh pretty much covered all of what I needed about 6-7 years ago, but it's nice there are alternate means to get them at a decent price without having to resort to some of the bigger comic shops on the net.

I have found a local antique store that has a bunch of comics (with Valiants scattered in) for a dollar a piece. I know that's too much to pay for common issues, I'm just looking for a list of "good" one to keep an eye out for. This thread has helped. I was able to locate a Bloodshot 30 and 32 in the 2.50 price variant at this store the other day. Not bad for two dollars!

Certainly not, especially considering what you can flip/trade them for.
