Not really. There was tremendous fuss on the entire new line early on, and I'm sure some of that might still be continuing with the readers and collectors.
Considering how popular these are, it is not odd at all.
DC's sales don't seem to reflect it at the moment in the wake of Marvel Now. Eg. Five out of the top 20:
http://www.diamondcomics.com/Home/1/1/3 ... eID=133542

Or are you guys saying you think it's due to the quality of those early books, possibly coupled with it just being early numbers of big DC titles therefore more 'collectable'.
This is probably a copout, but it's often just plain difficult to tell why some back issues sell for the prices they do. No doubt the law of supply and demand is in effect, but why some of these issues are affected like they are is inexplicable to me. Sort of like some of the All New X-Men back issues. I guess dealers just didn't keep enough back stock to meet the demand on some of these.
As far as the All New X-Men goes, I think is has to do with the fact that retailers had no idea how many to order for the first few issues, as they had to put in orders for #2-4 before they even got to see how popular #1 was. It ended up being a good series (so I've heard - I haven't read it myself), and I would assume it was under ordered making supply less than demand.
I think that's a legitimate point, but it doesn't explain why issues 5 and 6 are selling in the same price range as issues 3 and 4.

I hadn't realized that the later issues were also going for dough.

It does when you consider that the book shipped twice a month.

I didn't realize Batwoman 0 is considered a (the?) New 52 prelude.

Batwoman was originally supposed to be published around that time, but they held it back for the New 52 relaunch to gain more traction. I think in the second issue J. H. Williams had to modify a page since it represented the pre-New 52 universe.

I think all of the zero issues are preludes to their respective series.

I'm pretty sure this is no more a prelude to the new 52 than A&A 0 is a prelude to Valiant, and I'm pretty sure they are just spamming their listing with keywords.

All the zero issues are intended as preludes to their respective series, but Batwoman actually had two zero issues--one that came out during that month where every New 52 comic had a zero issue, and the other one--the one in the auction--was out months before the New 52 relaunch and intended as a lead-in to the first Batwoman story arc, "Hydrology." Like I said above, Batwoman wasn't originally intended as a New 52 series, but they delayed it so they could sell it as part of the relaunching. I could see why people would think it would be a prelude to the reboot, even though I don't completely agree (In #0, Batman is wearing his pre-New 52, Batman Incorporated costume).

Batman #1 at $70.00. :hm: Must be tons of demand or, more likely, speculators. It sold 188,000 copies when it came out which is a huge amount by modern standards.

This might end up being a new modern key, or maybe a book associated with the beginning of a new age of comics. :hm:

Well mine closed at $43.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 500wt_1414

I've been keeping an eye on other auctions of this book this week and they have been consistently selling in the $40.00-50.00 range. So I'd say the $70.00 book was an outlier. I doubt it's gonna hit $100.00 any time soon, but I think the book could get there eventually.

Eventually like in 5 years or so.

I'm OK with $43.00. But I would have been happier with $70.0

Detective Comics 871 is the first Scott Snyder Batman story. Not that it's any secret, but it bears mentioning in this thread. This seller's moving them at 10 bucks a pop.
