My lack of the later/acclaim books is hurting me, i know the store where i found the deathmate gold for 25 cents had 3-4 of the x-o 1 acclaim variant....i should get back to the the store to do a full search...at the time i had to *SQUEE* so bad i couldn't stay there any longer.

Why is it comic shops hardly ever have public restrooms? By law they are supposed to but usually don't.

The way most of the local shops in my area look they probably couldn't spring for the toilet paper anyway.

The long boxes of early 90s Image books are still there to compensate for the lack of a public restroom. That's probably a lot more sanitary than going in an LCS restroom which is usually ran by a gi-normous dude who can't reach around to wipe and somehow manages to get it all over the seat at the same time. Not to mention the toilet seat being either in 5 pieces or being held together by a ton of duct tapetm.

My wife stopped in a shop last week to take a peek at what they had. She told me there were books piled everywhere and only a little pathway to get around. She looked over at the end of the place and saw another small room piled high with books and a toilet in the middle of it with only a curtain for a door. The owner said to her, yep that's the restroom!

This is why I feel nasty after looking through comic boxes - even if everything is bagged and boarded. You've got to wonder how many "a sses" and poop particles you are touching when looking through the boxes - customers and clerks. :atomic:

Hwy, ZWH - do the In 'n Out's still have the stickers one can "modify" to read "In 'n Out Urge?"

You almost have to live in a big city to find those deals at garage sales.

Well, I only got sniped on ONE auction this morning, but overall I think I did OK - here's what I just won:

Solar #7 for 99 cents
Rai #1 for $6 (I have three of these now)
Solar #1 for $3.24 (!!!)
X-O Manowar #15 Pink x2 for $3.25
... and a copy of Original Magnus #1 for 25 cents (why not, eh?)

All from the same seller, so a grand total of six comics for only $13.73 before shipping. Not too shabby, I'd like to think. The auction I didn't get was Magnus #'s 1 & 2 with cards, it ended up selling for only $10.25 (damn snipers!)

So that's you. pewter4144?

I might of been outbid, but it's nice to know the books are going to a fan and not some slimy collector trying to turn a fast buck.

Yup, that's me! And I have been called slimy before...

Seriously, these are all (well, almost all) going into my collection, I really just want the pre-Unity books. I did sell a few pre-U's after I joined here but that was when I was jobless and desperate for cash. Now, one of the X-O Pinkies could/can be used as trading leverage for other stuff I don't have... and the Rai #1? Well, I just love this book - if there is a Valiant title out there that I am going to hoard, this will be it. I hope this is the first title to come out of the "new" Valiant, and it better be "up to snuff!"

Oh, and sorry about sniping any books away from you, Dr. Phil.....

wait a tick...two X-O 15 pinkies...did you swipe those from Chan703 or something like that? I bought some Shadowman books from him and he didn't pack them very well at all! I'm glad you got them and not him! :D

I can feel ya'll on the snipers...they wait till the last 20 seconds and place a higher bid. I lost some later issues of X-O because of that! I really try to avoid doing that myself unless it is something that I REALLY want. :D

I just stick to whatever I'm willing to pay for a book regardless of the time. If i'm watching it and it gets sniped above my maximum, that's fine - whether early or late, i'm not gonna get into a reckless bidding war...for the most part
