Help with the grade of a couple older books

Post by nscc »

I was wondering if someone else could look at these scans and see if the grade is what is what was written on the sticker on the bag. These were graded by the original seller not the person I bought them from and I was wanting to know if they were correct. I am happy as hell either way with these old beauties (but now they have made me want to start collecting the Gold Key books too facepalm) no matter if they are lower than what is on them. I still haven't ordered that grading book yet, but figured I could use these to help me along the way once I do as long as they are correct. Any help is appreciated. Thanks :thumb:

Nice books, the grades look fairly accurate to me. I could maybe see a slight bump down to that Solar 1 (6.0-6.5) but that Four Color 596 is solid VG - great book!

Those are ok grades. I'd probably go 3.5 on the first Turok due to the crease, spine and mainly the bottom staple wear.

The Solar is more in the 5.5-6.0 range. Probably not a 7.0.

This is my opinion as well.

I agree on 4.0 for the Four Colors 596, but I think Solar falls more around 6.0.

Since we don't have any idea what the interiors look like, I'm gonna' have to err on the side of caution and say a 3.5 and a 6.0.

Thanks a lot for your help guys! Appreciate you taking the time to check these out. As far as the insides, I didn't want to flatten them to scan, but all pages are complete and fairly white.
Thanks again!

My thoughts seemed to be mirrored by others.

My first thought on the Turok book was 3.5. The apparent looseness around the staples drops it down a touch below VG to me.

The Doctor Solar looks about 6.0 to me, based on the pics.

Hope those didnt come from someone working for the postal service. Those are the same grades and issues I lost about 6 months ago from squirril due to the USPS incompetence. :(
