He should eat that trade, and you should feed it to him for all the asinine comments he made which led to this mammoth thread!Phantom wrote:Spoke to the manager today.

I told him about the diamond award, good sales, ratings etc.
That he should read the harbinger trade (he has not stocked any valiant trades as of yet).
Spoke about other stuff ~ then I had to leave.
Just brought the Harbinger trade online ~ to give to him to read![]()
I will let you know how it goes.

Fold the trade like a taco shell, fill it with ground beef (or beef mince, your choice), top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa.

Re: Forbidden planet gives valiant 6 months ~ but don't list
Lol, that is funny, but don't be too hard on the guy. I've spoken to him a lot since I started buying Valiant, and a bit previously to that too, and he's really a pretty decent chap. I think we just found his opinion a little hard to swallow. But it's cool that this thread is still going, and I certainly will tell him "Told you so!" after FCBD when the shop's a little quieter and we have time for a natterlorddunlow wrote:It'll probably outlast that guy's employment at Forbidden Planetnutflush76 wrote:Hey this thread has almost lasted 6 months!

And I like the idea about his trade being presented to him as a huge, dripping, soggy mess of a taco. Love to know what it'd be like to read after that. It'd be like Harbinger on LSD with all the oil and fat running the colours on the page.

Shadowman99 ~ will met you at the FCBD!
Don't know when I can be their ~ due to ~ well, I will tell you latter.
If You get their super early they give the first customers special gifts. Like variants, gold books etc.
But the que starts before openning. like 0800. I would do it, will see if I can arrange it.
ANYWAY ~ the guy is a top bloke. Really fun, all the staff are. THe boss is very knowledgable, and get stuff in the shop signed by writers and artists when he can ( no extra cost). Even if stuff is selling high on ebay, he will sell it at cover at the shop. Thats where 2 weeks ago I brought Saga 4/5/6/7 at cover .
Was annoyed that he was so open about valiant not lasting six months ~ but look at ATLAS ~ where are they
no matter how different the companies are ~ from an outsider they are the same.
I was annoyed that he was telling customers this ~ because I wanted success for valiant
I don't hate the guy
, and now he is telling ME how good valiant is and how great all the reviews are
He is not in full control of what is ordered at the shop BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE more valiant on the shelf.
Look at DRACO in his shop, smaller, but sells 20 times more valiant as he pushes it. Also his new shop, started roughly the same time as valiant. So new people to the shop ~ get to start with a new comic company ~ well done DRACO.

its a old school UK iceceam ice lollie.
Sorry I thought I had put that in the above post.
Because I didn't grow up in the UK I never had it before.
In Australia we had Buffillo Bill ice cream with the bubblegum nose.
Oh and we had an ice cream called 'Gay Lord' which everyone loved intill gay ment something else. I still enjoy a gay lord icecream when I am back in Australia. Buffillo Bills bubble gum is foul tasting ~ why did I like that as a child?

Yeah, Fab really is old school!
'Gay Lord' ice cream?!?!?! That is amazing. I'll have to look out for that when I go back. I remember laughing my *SQUEE* off the first time that I discovered 'Coon' cheese in the supermarket down in Oz.
And by the way, for all you rednecks that refer to racoons as 'coons out there in the States, 'Coon' means something totally different here in the UK!

Re: Forbidden planet SUPPORTS VALIANT, WITH PERSUASION FROM
And MAgnusR ( if you read the location of my avator above)
Anyway ~ last three weeks, have been hectic, but my Mum is looking after my kids so I got an hour off
Went to town to replace phone which was broken and DROPPED into forbidden planet (phone shop didn't open for another 30 min).
Went straight to the manager at the back to hand over HARBINGER TPB. Got chatting about the valiant book and sales. He seemed really positive, informing me they actually had a few trades in but they sold! Before he had chance to read them. So he was greatful I brought him the harbinger trade to read.
I spoke about the trade and told him to feel free to hand it arround the other members of staff and customerswho you think would be interested.
Funny ~ he said he would return it in the same condition, I said don't worry ~ I perfer more people to enjoy it rather than have it back in mint condition.
WO WO WO hang on guys ~ you guys are to quic to post, I hve three kids going to bed and cooking dinner and arranging pick ups of furniture, aswell as administering medication and whe I get back to finishing this post I get abuse
You are a valiant fan when you comment on your own post before it is submitted, because people post to quick!
Anyway
As we spoke he said to me he was going to a meeting on thursday? (cannot remember the exact day, he may of ment next thursday otherwise he would of said tomorrow) with Diamond UK ( I met the company and two employees at Excell when I met Magnus and Draco recently). And was going to ask HEAD office at Forbidden planet London to stock two of each trade consistantly ~ as the new graphic novel oordering guy will also be at the meeting.
His words not mine~ 'we will push valiant more here'. I think this is because of the constant good press he is reading about valiant. And also one persistant customer who always comes in praising the stories and boosting about sales figures and percentages (thanks to information on this site)

This is awesome Phantom!
The more people who promote VEI and get people to read them the better. Once someone starts reading, they are hooked and then they will be the ones spreading the love.
