Eternal Warrior #1 speculation **SPOILERS!**

Post by Baramos »

Keep in mind

**BIG SPOILERS FOR ETERNAL WARRIOR #1**
in this topic!

So according to what I have read the first arc of the Eternal Warrior comic book is going to deal with Gilad realizing he has fathered children in the past (when is not stated), and his conflict with them (I guess they are evil?).

Is there any basis for this in the original Valiant? I am not as familiar with Eternal Warrior as I am with X-O, Rai, Magnus, etc. so I don't know much about past plotlines.

Also, I assume since it was so long ago he is not familiar with them or was aware their mother had them, are they going to be immortals like him (meaning the immortality can be passed on), or maybe 100 year old fogies plotting in wheelchairs (YES LET THIS BE IT).

In the original Valiant i think he ended up killing his children because they turned into killers. One was the immortal enemy and he had a daughter that was Jack the ripper. There was probably more that i can't remember. Maybe his children will be his immortal enemies from the past, present and future.

His children were never immortal, but often had longer lives than normal people.

And they were always evil... very, very evil.

So did they live for centuries but were killable (i.e. no regeneration)?

Harder to kill than normal humans perhaps (but no actual short term regeneration) and maybe double the lifespan (never confirmed but maybe implied? Been awhile since I read them). But yes, they always 'went bad' (at least all the ones they ever showed) and Gilad usually ended up hearing about them (maybe from the Geomancer) and coming back to hunt them down himself because he felt responsible for the evil they did.

I wouldn't mind seeing that kind of thing repeated, but maybe with a few 'good' seeds sprinkled here and there in the mix to show him that not everything that comes from him turns to violence and death. Maybe after he gets depressed from hunting down many of his 'bad' kids, the Geomancer tells him about some of the 'good' kids from history and you find out that some of them were heroes in their own right. Put in some historical figures as cool examples (like Leonidas the Greek from the 300 movie!) and relieve his guilt some. Rebalance him and send him on his way to keep fighting the good fight. Even if it's revealed afterword that the Geomancer was lying to him and those heroes that were cited were just people after all. A sad, but necessary task to keep him going ... for the good of the earth. :hm:

I'm surprised Gilad has time for romance, he's so driven. Armstrong's the one that has to have hundreds of kids throughout history.

THAT is a very interesting thought. And if Armstrong is out there having that many more kids, are they also crazy and evil and if not... why not? :hm: :?

I think it makes perfect sense story-wise that either of them would have kids. I also agree, that Aram would be far more likely to have a ton of descendants in the world compared to Gilad... Unless there is a thing about immortality making them sterile...

Also, when you summarize the concept that all of Gilad's kids in VH1 turned out evil, it sounds like a bit of a cheesy, lame idea. I hope that if there are any 'Immortal Offspring' stories, that they don't make an arbitrary decision to have them all be evil in the VEI universe.

Well in VH1 it turned out that Mac was a descendant of Ivar el Timewalker. I think they reveal it in one of the last issues of Timewalker. And that was how he survived a trip in a time arc one time.

I think the concept of having all of Gilly's children be insane was awesome. It weighed him down further and showed his burden of being immortal, having a duty and never having any comfort at all (like a family). And just the opposite, if he had kids he would actually make more work for himself

Thats pretty awesome ... Even though I have most of the back issues, I never read through VH1 EW (probably stopped at around 20). Since I think we have 2 weeks until new valiant issues come out - I might need to read some of these back issues to prepare myself for the re-boot.

But what are you going to do to prepare yourself for reading those issues?

I read all the way through a few years ago, and Eternal Warrior did not hold up well towards the end. Be brave.

I am so metaphorically moist for this book! Looks fantastic and I love the Assassin's Creed twist to the character design there (past or present, I'm unsure). It fits perfectly with the character's history and just looks damn cool!

It's interesting that his children are at the forefront of this because, like was mentioned above, the other brothers HAVE to have *SQUEE* from sooooooooo many women over their lifetimes that they're probably related to most of humanity. Maybe they're even the source of Harbinger genetics? And think how many historical figures could be immortal *SQUEE*! Interesting stuff.

And these specific children of Gilad's fit the "his kids are complete *SQUEE*" theme, so it'll be interesting to see that played with in the context of international crime post-9/11.

Also, this talk of other Warriors for other "Houses" is fascinating. So we have the House of the Earth led by Geomancer with the Eternal Warrior as its champion... maybe we have a House of the Dead (or Night) with Mama Nettie and Shadowman? Could be awesome...

...also, first post! :D

Wow, that sounds cool and different. Other than feeling responsibility for his children's deeds, how did he feel about killing them? If he had so many kids throughout history, could he have known about them all or had time to develop relationships with any of them?

As for immortals having kids, there is this example: 80% of the population of Mongolia can trace part(s) of their genetic lineage all the way back to Genghis Khan. The man got around *ahem* so to speak.
