It could have just as easily dropped in price by half.
Lock in those profits and enjoy!

I definitely do. I've read the first trade 3 times already and can't wait to get the second one. If it comes out in over-sized HC, I'm definitely getting it.

Rachel rising 1 is going for over $100. Apparently there is going to be a television show

Re: Discuss Hard To Find Or Currently Hot Modern Comics
I guess I just see comics differently. I don't see them as an investment - I never buy multiple copies, I only buy books that I personally want to have in my collection. I can understand low print run books going up in price when demand rises (I ended up paying $40 for a Manhattan Projects #1 - because it's my favorite series and I want to own the originals - even though it didn't have a small print run), but $100 for a book that likely is going to drop in price just seems silly.
No offense to those that make a business out of it; it's just not my thing.

At Wondercon some dude came by to ask for RR. I did not have any (really did not know anything about the books). But Doc has some and sold to the dude. So I stashed a mental note away....
A few weeks later I was at a place and saw a stack of the early books, and on half gamble (When I am shopping for back issues to sell, I try to stick to my list) I picked them up.
Um..... happy I did.
A #1 and #2 are in a choice place on my comic wall for the Long Beach show in a few weeks.

Make sure you have a first print of #2. You can only tell by looking at the UPC code as the printing number was not published on the inside of the book.Elveen wrote:StarBrand wrote:WOW!caxiotis wrote:Rachel rising 1 is going for over $100. Apparently there is going to be a television show

Books with the last number on the UPC code of 1 is 1st print, 2 is 2nd, etc.

Must be more suckers who think it's not going to go up in price exponentially like Sean. :mental note to find suckers like Sean:
Obviously,and
This is always a consideration. 99% of the time I want to SELL my books. I don't want to have a museum. there has been many times where I sold a book "early". The best example is Peter Pan #1. I sold it for $100 and then next day they were going for $160 at the Arizona con.
There are only a few books where my price is what I would consider "high" on.
Invincible #1, Sixth Gun #1, and.......... actually I think that is it.

I picked up a second print (I think) of RR#1 from my LCS back issue bin. Didn't really like the artwork, seemed kind of cheap, like high school indy project. I'm not familiar with Moore, are his books usually like this?

I only read the first issue of RR and that was a long time ago so I don't know how it compares to his other stuff. He is usually a bit cartoony and is usually known for drawing women. I like it.

I'd put this in the top 10% of comics illustration. I thought it was astoundingly good.

I agree with Elveen. I more than doubled my money, why would I be unhappy with that?Elveen wrote:This is always a consideration. 99% of the time I want to SELL my books. Sure, I could have made more money if my books didn't sell, but fear of not making potential profits when real profits are staring you in the face leads to bad business practices.
