I have 2 extra copies and was wondering what I should list them for? Any advice?
What would I do with a Million $, besides 2 chicks at the same time? Nothing. Absolutely nothing!

What condition are they actually in?

Greg's Guide still has 'em listed at $40 in straight NM. Based on the very few I've seen sell, that's at least in the ballpark range, although really closer to $50. However, if they're even slightly better than NM, and especially if they're NM+ (or better), price point should increase dramatically, IMNSHO.

Both are in high grade. I always planned to have them graded, but never got around to it. They're both unread & look no less than a 9.6. But to be on the safe side 9.4 (NM)

Those are beauties.

Frankly, many folks would probably pay for them. I am not a strictly graded person - and know that I paid quite a bit for my copies - even in less than stellar shape. Consider an auction to make the most for yourself... But a high buy it now option would be a good idea, too.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice. I listed one of the books on 3 day auction with some other key non-valiant books.

As far as the free shipping in concerned, yes. International bidders would need to pay for the shipping. Also, I'm not sure how to set that up on ebay.

Hello:

I saw that you sold one of your copies on eBay. Do you still have another copy available for sale? If so, please let me know.

Thanks,

Michael

I still have the second copy, but I'm thinking of sending it in to CGC because of the poor result s of the last auction.

Good luck with the CGC grading and future sale. I will keep my eye out for another copy elsewhere.

I was also surprised when I sold unity 2000 3 how low it went.
Similar to your auction.

Shadow man vol 3 iss 6 sold for more than I expected, so swings an roundabouts.
I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.

Sorry to hear that you did not sell the book higher.

This is one of the reasons why I never put up books on auction. VEI / Valiant and Acclaim books are a small market and its a gamble when you start auctions with $1.

I would rather do OBO and start the auctions with the highest offer to get a gauge of the market value of books. I have relisted books over and over and in the end, it's better to pay a 20 cent listing fee and with for a buyer rather than leave the books on auction.

If you selling books with a larger market like Marvel, DC or Image (TWD), these books have more pull due to ther popularity.

Spoken for Truth. I always use BIN on Acclaim books Dr. Mirage is right the market is so small on those books.

My patience paid off this past weekend at Planet ComiCon in Kansas City. I found Unity 2000 #3 and Unity 2000 #1 Variant from the same seller and I got em' both for $15.00. The #1 variant is in great shape, but the #3 issue is a little beat up, but I am happy to have the complete run of Unity 2000.

Thank you! I had to double-check Greg's cover guide a few times to make sure I had the right issues. It was a nice score.

It took about 6 months, but I finally got my book back from CGC. I can't say that I'm not a little disappointed that it came back with only a 9.4, but it's still a rare book. Before I put it up for auction, I thought I would let the boards have first crack. Please let me know if anyone has interest in either purchase or trade.

I didn't get any PM's from the boards, but I thought someone still might be interested. I'm posting a link to the auction going up on ebay tomorrow at 4 PM EST.

I thought I would ask for feedback about my auction. My auction is not getting much attention and I wanted to know if its because I'm not doing something correct or just no interest in the book. Is a CGC 9.4 too low a grade on that book? Should I lower my starting price? Should I wait another two weeks when Unity #1 comes out and more interest in back issues peak? Please let me know what you think.

I would just put a slightly higher BIN, with BO offer. No one is going to pay $149 for that book, I know you want to get maximum dollars as a seller but there's no way that will sell there. Why your price is high, that deters a lot of people from buying. I wouldn't say the starting bin of $50 is high, but that's probably around where it would sell. The book is rare, but there's not a lot of people that care enough about it, especially a 9.4 (which might actually hurt more than help).

Thanks for some of the advice, I appreciate the input. I'm starting the bid price at $49.99 because I'm offering free shipping. It doesn't pay for me to sell it for anything less. Between the money laid out for grading the book, six months wait time, ebay fees and shipping costs, I would be losing money if I sold it for any less. I know the CGC 9.4 isn't the greatest of grades, but the CGC census doesn't show any 9.8's and only two 9.6's. The book is pushing 15 years and the new series is starting in a couple of weeks. I was hoping for renewed interest in the series, but not everything works out the way we want it to. The $149.99 "buy it now" was for me fishing for an impulse buyer, but I never really thought anyone would buy it for that price.

Realistically the price at $50 shipped is very good for a buyer, considering how rare NM copies are, and what NM raws go for. It's a typical problem with most modern 9.4s, more often than not will hurt selling price instead of helping. That and the market for graded Acclaims is tiny.

That opening bid is a decent price, I think someone who collects slabs and is looking for that should grab it. Then maybe down the road they can upgrade if they see an opportunity....I'm not into slabs, and I avoid auctions with import charges.
