New to Valiant and new here
Hello, my name is TheFallen and I am a Valiant fan.
But this wasn't always the case. I wasn't always a Valiant fan. Sure, I knew of Valiant during the comics explosion of the early 90's but I was too wrapped up in Image Comics and nearly all X-related comics from Marvel. The most I knew of Valiant was from seeing them in Wizard/Hero magazines and from the Nintendo Shadowman game.
Fast forward to 2012 and the announcement of a return of Valiant. Good for them, I thought to myself as I breezed over the announcement. It is always nice to see another publisher come back but that is as far as I went with it. Then during FCBD I picked up the Valiant preview but never read it for some reason.
It wasn't until Bloodshot was released that I thought I would finally give it a shot. I picked up the first couple of issues of Bloodshot and read the FCBD preview. Damn, this was actually good stuff. I already knew of Bloodshot from the 90's and I always liked the look of the character so this was easy to get in to but I was blown away with how good it was.
Shadowman was the next one I picked up and that was solely because of the old Nintendo game. It wasn't as strong as Bloodshot but the supporting characters and villains, namely Master Darque and Mr. Twist really intrigued me and that was enough to hook me.
I then started to spend more of my time in the Independents section of the CBR forums and posters were asking for, and making, recommendations for Valiant Comics. Harbinger and X-O were constantly at the top of the list, hell, all the comics were on people's lists to check out so I took the suggestion and picked up Harbinger. This was the series that put me full on into the Valiant Universe and locked me here. Harbinger is one of the best series I have read in a very long time and I am completely smitten with it.
From here, I decided to get the other titles. And although Archer & Armstrong is not my favourite of the bunch, X-O is up there with Harbinger as being an extremely good read. All my Valiant purchases are digital but I am so impressed with the comics that I am buying the trades as well now. Add in to that the (more than a) possibility of the new Valiant toy line and it is a good time to be a fan of this company.
All of this has finally brought me to this message board. I hope you can take it easy on me because I am not real versed in the history of Valiant but I am on the same page as everyone else when it comes to this new series. I look forward to spending time here and talking to you all.

Welcoming you with open arms (that disguise the knife to plunge into your back if necessary).
Hey, look! I have a podcast!
And a Website!

If I win an argument, it doesn't mean I'm right. It means I'm a better arguer.
In addition, I'm right.

Re: New to Valiant and new here
Welcome to the board! (And to Valiant)
It's always good to get some new blood in here. Most of us Valiant fans from the 90s inevitably end up comparing the new to the old (sometimes favorably, sometimes not so much). I love hearing new fans views on the individual issues and the line as a whole.
Look forward to hearing your take on things over in the individual issue review threads. I'm on there a lot!

Ne'er more shall innocent new Canadian members be blindsided by your irrational Maple-based prejudism! Off with you, now! Away, foul fiend of the balmy American night! I banish you, in the name of The Queen, Tim Horton and all that is frozen & good!

Irrelevant! We were both colonies of the Commonwealth once - its only a matter of time before his tainted prejudice spreads to you & yours! Be warned!TheFallen wrote:It is okay guys, I am Australian
