Seriously though. Shadowman #5 was awesome and her scene was great. I'm looking forward to reading more of this character.

BOOBIES!!!!
Okay now that that is out-of-the-way have to Say I am actually disappointed in this announcement. I love the fact that you had a husband-and-wife team. I really loved How they loved and cared for each other and worked well together. I think it's a shame that every character has to be alone and on the run now. The closest thing really get to a real team maybe is a bunch of misfits runways or a couple buddies trying to save the world. Don't get me wrong I love Valiant and I'm very excited about most everything that you're doing but I just think this was a missed opportunity to do something that was very different. Also if I'm not mistaken the original doctor Mirage's costume was a ski outfit from when he died. And since that was the last thing he was wearing he got stuck wearing it for all eternity. I think there could be some very silly jokes in there or maybe something even more embarrassing but that is neither here nor there.
So all in all of course I'll give it a chance and maybe they can change my mind.

Justin Jordan is floating around here somewhere, but I would guess the relationship aspect of Dr. Mirage is too important to the character to not be there this time around.Ramses818 wrote:BOOBIES!!!!![]()

Re: Dr. Mirage!

I may be in the minority, but I liked the original Dr. Mirage. I didn't read the whole run but I did like the partnership they had going on. It was Buffy before there was Buffy. Brave action hero girl, nerdy knowledgeable guy...
I'm sure there are plenty of people that don't want to see a relationship per say, and I'm no fan of romance dramas either, but showing a relationship within these type of extraordinary circumstances is more interesting. So, soccer games out, occult mysteries in.
I hope they don't start a romantic triangle/*SQUEE* between Alyssa, Mirage, and Jack. That would blow. As for Dr. Mirage being married or having a life partner, I'm down with that, regardless of the type of relationship. If it does turn out to be a lesbian relationship, then I hope it will be written with respect and not done because it's "timely" or written gratuitously to please horny fan boys. #lamesauce
p.s. edited to include the word "boobies".

Re: Dr. Mirage!
In VH1, Dr Mirage's real name is Hwen Dong Fong. He didn't like people calling him Dr Dong or Dr "Ding Dong", so he changed it to Mirage. Lol.
Now with the new Dr Mirage. It's quite interesting.

Re: Dr. Mirage!
I think that Dr. Mirage has to have that relationship aspect in order to be Dr. Mirage. With the sex change I think that it would be interesting, not to mention controversial, to have her love interest, wife, partner, whatever you want to call it, be another woman.
Sure gay superheroes have been done before, but how many actually explore that aspect of the character? I think that this would be a perfect place to put this type of a relationship. I think that the writers at Valiant have the ability to pull this off and not have it seem gimmicky or gratuitous.
As for the costume. Sure it looks great, but I kinda think that it's out of place. This chick just walks around in this skintight outfit while assisting the police with solving child murders? That just seems like even more of a stretch (no pun intended) than a girl who talks to dead people.
I think she should be dressed a little more normal. At least while she is assisting the L.A.P.D.

Maybe the tight suit is a sentimental gesture to a dead ex (either sex, doesn't matter) who had a latex fetish. Boom! Character driven fan service.
Seriously, though, while I'm not usually against sexy super heroine garb I found the plunging neckline kind of distracting. I wonder how many ghosts she finds staring at her cleavage.

Loved the original Mirage !. the relationship he had with his wife was one of the things that made it special for me. It's all about great characters, and to have great characters you need character development. I really like how XO and Harby took their time before any big action drama. I think Shadowman jumped to fast into the action. (but some people want that so i imagine it's a cant please everyone situation) i would love for them to take it slow with the new Mirage. Looking forward!!:)

I loved the original Dr. Mirage.
I'm confident that I'll love this one too, and am fine that it's not the 'classic' Dr. Mirage.

Re: Dr. Mirage!
I'm actually waiting until Bloodshot comes out next week before I go and pick up my copy of Shadowman as well (I bet my patience blows all your minds eh?!
) but I think this new Dr. Mirage looks really cool
For everyone who's worrying about why she's not called Dr. Mirage yet, I bet that the title will be something she acquires later through storyline. A lot of people have predicted that Darque will make her incorporeal one way or the other, and I'd say that's not a bad theory in terms of getting her into the classic 'Dr. Mirage' powerset. Jack Boniface has taken forever and a day to sync with his Loa and get to grips with his Shadow powers, so I can see how Dr. Mirage will go a similar way.
Whilst I do find it a bit odd that she's walking around in skintight leather/rubber whilst assisting the police with their daily duties, I can only hope that there's a reason for it that'll come out in the dialogue somewhere. Like it protects her from being possessed by ghosts or demons somehow, or something... You know what I mean! ^_^ Otherwise it's just a bit eccentric to be dressed like that about one's daily comings and goings.
But on the other hand, I think a bit of sex appeal is always welcome, so as far as her actual *look* goes, I think she's smashing. (Just to make sure I fit it in like everyone else has ((No pun intended, haha!)), I think she has great boobies and think her costume shows them off superbly!
)
I'd like to see her end up with her own comic line in the future too. I like Shadowman, so regardless of whether it's been done before or not and blah blah blah, I quite like the simple premise of a P.I. with paranormal abilities
Could make for some cracking storylines.
And I never read the original Dr. Mirage series, so I couldn't care less whether or not she's in *any* kind of relationship as long as her plotlines are good

This looks super lame. I think most people didn't exactly love the VH1 of Dr.Mirage so they have no trouble with them just remaking it. Honestly I enjoyed it and the dynamics with his wife was great character development. How would anyone feel if they just started changing other characters at launch such as Bloodshot, or Archer.

Re: Dr. Mirage!
I agree. Changing characters, even characters that I never had a connection to, is something that cheeses me off. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the ocassional costume change or new power, but changing a character's gender is going too far. If Valiant wants a strong female lead, they either need to concentrate on characters like Sandria Darque and Erica Pierce or create new female characters. Changing a character's race or gender always seems like pandering to me. The problem is that most people here can't see past the boobies.llkeithll wrote:This looks super lame.
