Speculation about the next 5 titles?
http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/03/05/ ... -spoilers/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Most likely pure speculation by bleeding cool ... Probably a good guess thoughYesterday, Valiant teased the return of the HARD Corps in Harbinger Wars #3.
Then, this morning they spoiled the return of Dr. Mirage in tomorrow’s Shadowman #5. And she’s a lady doctor.
They made no secret of telling retailers at ComicsPRO that they could expect a handful of new Valiant books by the year’s end.
With Eternal Warrior and Ninjak already having appeared in other titles as well, looks like this will be the line-up for a second Summer of Valiant line of new titles.
HARD Corps, Dr Mirage, Eternal Warrior and Ninjak… that should do for now.

Re: Speculation about the next 5 titles?
In the ECCC interview Fred Pierce said they were doing summer of Valiant part 2 with 3 being the number mentioned for new titles. Makes sense June, July and August.
I think possibilties are-
Hard Corps
Dr.Mirage
Rai
Ninjak
Eternal Warrior
Timewalker
Armorines
Quantum and Woody
If this was a pick 3 poll I would go with Ninjak, Rai and Eternal Warrior but that probably wont be it because it's so obvious.
I could also dig a HARD Corps book if Duane and Josh continued to colaborate on the writing.

EW and Ninjak (possibly as Secret Weapons) are best set up for a series at this point.hawkeyeps wrote:In the ECCC interview Fred Pierce said they were doing summer of Valiant part 2 with 3 being the number mentioned for new titles. Makes sense June, July and August.

If I was a gambling man (and I'm not) I'd say EW, Rai and Quantum & Woody as new series because they are the best known IPs.
If I had my way it would be EW, Rai and a team book like Secret Weapons or HARD Corps.
I think VEI has to be careful to not cross genres/themes too much too soon. HARD Corps, Dr. Mirage and Q&W may be too similar to Harbinger/Bloodshot, Shadowman and A&A, respectively.

Re: Speculation about the next 5 titles?
If I had to take a stab at 5 books I don't know, I can't see 5 more books hitting shelves in the near future but I could see an Eternal Warrior and a Ninjak book before the end of the year (Q&W too). I count we will see a Rai book for a long time and I'm thinking Mirage and Hard Corps would work better as supporting characters in existing series for the time being or until we see the fan reaction to them in existing booms first.
Time shall tell.

HARD Corps, Dr. Mirage, Eternal Warrior, Secret Weapons (featuring Ninjak) and Rai would be the 5 I think will be introduced by the end of the year.
I think Dr. Mirage is a good bet to get her own book
I think a lot of good things working for it:
- a lot of press on her upcoming 1st appearance
- another character in the Supernatural Realm of Valiant
- A women superhero is very appealing in a universe lacking heroines

I will bet on Quantum & Woody.
Next... Rai...
After that, I would do a toss-up with Ninjak & Eternal Warrior... Leaning to Ninjak. And EW joining Archer & Armstrong on a rotating basis. One story Aram, the next Gilad.
It would also leave a space for Q&W.

I'd like it to be HARD Corps for sure, and I'd be interested in seeing where this new Dr. Mirage goes. And yes, it would be a complement to the Shadowman, magic, supernatural vibe, which he is kind of on his own at the moment.
I'd also like to see Ninjak! I think there's a lot of material for that character, especially since he's already met Neville.

Re: Speculation about the next 5 titles?
If I look at the books we know are coming I can see some good launch points for possible new books.
May A&A #0 leads to Eternal Warrior in June. Either that or Shadowman #0 sets up Dr.Mirage for June.
June Planet death ends with XO #14 and leads to Aric "back to the future"- Rai for July
Either that or Aric is "back to the present" then Ninjak would be more likely.
July Harbinger Wars ends leads to HARD Corps in August.
Summer of Valiant part 2?

Those are some good thoughts. I did have the idea that maybe Rai is going to spawn from Planet Death. Maybe in this iteration he is an alien? The old Rai books always had an alien feel to me. Maybe that's the tech Rising Spirit used to make Bloodshot. This time, instead of Bloodshot being the "inspiration" for Rai, Rai is the inspiration for Bloodshot.hawkeyeps wrote:If I look at the books we know are coming I can see some good launch points for possible new books.

Re: Speculation about the next 5 titles?
Rai Could easily still be human and be in planet death. Because of the alien technology he could be infused with something else that as a way to try and create a weapon to destroy the XO armor and of course they would use a human guinea pig first and maybe not understanding what a harbinger is accidentally create Rai. Because they have at least thousands of years of humans there and maybe even more if they could take somebody from say feudal Japan with a very strict sense of honor and Aric could bring him back to earth thinking he was helping him Of course which would lead to all kinds of problems in people trying to use him. And then you would get that old school sensibility of honor in a way of thinking clashing with new ideas of today. Just a crazy thought since I love crazy thoughts anyway

Re: Speculation about the next 5 titles?
I'll only speculate on 3 titles, because that's what they said they were adding with this second Summer of Valiant.
I wouldn't mind Rai, but I still don't know how they do that without adding a year 4000 offshoot and I don't see them splintering the universe that way yet. So unless Rai is somehow the bleeding monk or someone else in the current timeline, I don't see it yet.
I could see any of the following: Rai (with the above caveats), Eternal Warrior, HARD Corps, Dr. Mirage, Ninjak, or Quantum & Woody (just since they keep getting brought up by VEI).
I would prefer: Eternal Warrior, HARD Corps, and Ninjak, but we'll see.

Eternal Warrior
Ninjak
HARDCorps
But out of all VEI properties, I would prefer:
Eternal Warrior
Rai

Re: Speculation about the next 5 titles?
I think Quantum and Woody could be one of the next titles depending on how well the back issues have sold on Comixology. If those have done really well, then maybe it could be a new title. That being said, Valiant has really been surprising us with their announcements. I mean, how many of you were expecting an appearance from Dr. Mirage to be announced this week?

Ahh all this talk of Planet Death has got me wanting to collect the individual issues (I had stopped getting the monthly XO comics after the Ninjak arc as I wanted Planet Death in a nice looking single collected TB)!BugsySig wrote:A guy on the CBR board said Rai would appear at the end of Planet Death...it was a declarative statement, not speculative...take it for what it's worth.hawkeyeps wrote:If Rai makes an appearance in Planet Death part 3 in May then Valiant's tease of "Rai spring 2013" is fufilled.etos45 wrote:Those are some good thoughts. As much as I'd love a Ninjak monthly, I would like to see the character appear in some other comics first - more as a slow build towards a really well defined and deep character in his own right when the monthly does come around.Phoenix8008 wrote:I'll only speculate on 3 titles, because that's what they said they were adding with this second Summer of Valiant.

Shadowman is one of the best comics I've read in a while so I'd be looking for a Dr. Mirage ongoing - something that adds a little more depth to the Shadowman corner of the universe.
With HARD Corps appearing in Harbinger Wars, I think that'll see a logical progression to a new ongoing.
As for EW - I havent read the A&A so cant really comment on that one but would'nt be against it providing it workd well as both a continuation of his appearance in A&A and for new readers.

If I had to pink 3, I'd say Ninjak and Eternal Warrior, considering they're already set up fairly well for ongoings, and Dr. Mirage, as it helps flesh out the supernatural corner of the Valiant Universe without making too much of a stretch by crossing over into parts of the VU where it doesn't belong.

Not necessarily my personal preferences but an educated guess:
1. Quantum and Woody (sheer popularity)
2. Ninjak (guest-starring character from best selling series)
3. Something spun out from Harbinger Wars

Rai was advertised a LONG time ago and I don't see him appearing in any of the current books (I guess it MIGHT be possible, but unlikely. Would depend on if there were a time-traveling adventure in one of them). So I'd almost guarantee he will be one of the new books.
Eternal Warrior was also advertised. And honestly both Eternal Warrior and Rai were advertised in ways that gave me the impression they would get their own books this year, not just appear in other books, unlike say the Geomancer or Dr. Mirage.
