Lack of valiant at London comic con
So I trundled along to the London Super Comic Con on Saturday hoping to pick up a couple of VEI variants (among other goodies.) Had a great time but was genuinely shocked to discover that not a single dealer had any of the recent Valiant comics at all. Can anyone explain this?
BTW – I did have a brief chat with Ron Marz at the Top Cow booth. Never really read any of their books but he was such a nice guy I’m now tempted to check some out!

I checked the website and was really surprised to find that Valiant didn't have a booth there at all. I would have thought that now's a critical time for the company to be promoting itself, big-style. Obviously they're not that worried about marketing in the UK :S

Yes. It turns out, not many dealers sell the Valiant books.Mark Fuller wrote:Had a great time but was genuinely shocked to discover that not a single dealer had any of the recent Valiant comics at all. Can anyone explain this?

Yes, I know what you mean about the total absence of Valiant books by UK dealers. I was out of comics since the late 90's until last year and have since attended a couple of comic marts in the last few months. My 3 main observations are 1) how small the comic marts are these days (maybe less than a quarter in size compared to the 90's hey day 2) Valiant comics in dealers' boxes are rarer than rocking horse s@!£ 3) many people who attend comic marts are not as keen on taking showers as the rest of the populationMark Fuller wrote:So I trundled along to the London Super Comic Con on Saturday hoping to pick up a couple of VEI variants (among other goodies.) Actually, as far as I could see, exactly one single dealer had a few recent Valiant comicsMark Fuller wrote:So I trundled along to the London Super Comic Con on Saturday hoping to pick up a couple of VEI variants (among other goodies.) Nice you got to see Ron Marz, I missed him.
Obviously we need to coordinate better. It would have been great to see you.

Putting together a team for an overseas con might be outside their current con budget.Shadowman99 wrote:I checked the website and was really surprised to find that Valiant didn't have a booth there at all. I wish their was a Spinal Tap comic, and I had a copy CGC graded at 11.
