Star Wars #1 by Brian Wood Sold Out!

I tried to find Star Wars #1 by Brian Wood today at 2 local comic shops only to find out it had sold out within 2 hours on Wednesday! Then, I got home and tried to find it online... :( . Mile High is already selling it for $15 and it is going for even more on ebay! Oh well, it has already gone to 2nd print so I will have to settle for that.

That's so crazy, I wonder what caused all the frenzy?

I didn't know this series was coming out, and I just got one to check out on impulse. I will say that it was very enjoyable - it has a slight vibe of the better issues of the old-school Marvel SW comic run, and a great setting to do some stories - it starts shortly after the end of Ep. IV and features Luke, Leia, C3P0, R2, Han & Chewie.

I think there were lots of them around last week when I grabbed one... I'm tempted to see if there are more left now!

If you can grab more, i would if i were u. If u are so inclined, you can currently flip them for double-triple cover price on ebay. All 4 stores in Albany, NY sold out in a matter of hours on Wednesday. I lucked out today when my friend was able to buy the last two copies at a lcs in Charlotte, NC.

Yeah, I wanted to get a copy of this and my guy at my LCS told me he would pull a copy for me. I couldn't get in to the shop until yesterday and Surprise! No copy was pulled. The next closest shop is like an hour away and I don't really feel like driving all over Socal just to get one book.

So I guess second print for me as well.

I think what is getting everybody excited is that the book is bringing back all of the old characters: Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, etc. That and everyone is probably all excited that there will be some new Star Wars movies coming out. Which will probably have zero to do with this series.

Brian Wood writing it doesn't hurt either.

The real hunt is going to be for those Gamestop variants. I can't find any.

They had quite a few of these at my LCS so I picked up a couple. It was a pretty good read, but I think I actually preferred the Marvel stories. These did feel more like they could have been a movie, though. Leia flying an X-Wing bothered me for some reason... :?

Good for them. I wonder if this is the last SW series Dark Horse will be able to start since their contract is going away.

That would be kind of ironic, as the book has a similar vibe to the classic Marvel run.

I was just at a bookstore that carries some comics on their magazine racks... saw three copies of this sitting there, and got all excited until I picked them up. Unfortunately, two were severely damaged, and all three had huge stickers covering the bar codes that would not peel off without causing further massive cover damage :!:

Woulda been nice to scoop three like that...

I picked up a triple signed copy off Ebay, only to get it today with the bottom left corner all dinged up. Idiots put it between cardboard but didn't tape it so it just went all over the place with the cardboard.

I don't think it was epic, but #1s rarely are any more, it seems, because they're building to something. My only complaint is the "badass X-Wing Pilot" Leia. It just doesn't fit what I think of as her character (mainly the super-pilot part). I think it could lead to something awesome, but it could also step on a lot of previously established continuity.
