Christopher opens up at the VALIANT Booth
This is a true story!!!!!!
As some of you may now...my son Christopher is very, very shy!...He see's Mike McGuire constantly and still does not say hi ...
However all that changed at the comic con on sunday...
I brought home a copy of the valiant preview a while back from the Baltimore show...
Christopher immediately connected with the book and he took an interest in Shadowman, because he is "Creepy"...Christopher loves Halloween, so I guess there is some link there.
Fast forward to comic-con...
We are walking around the show floor...I bring him closer to the Valiant booth and he immediately points and identifies Shadowman.
Dino and Atom! saw us at the booth and they say "Hi Christopher"...He then waves!...He WAVED!...I was like HOLY *SQUEE*!..
They then start to talk to him..I give my usual line of "he's shy"...but...Atom! gets on his knee's and asks him "who is your favorite character?"..Christopher says "Shadowman!"...He actually spoke to someone he does not know!!!! I was like OMG....are you kidding me...no joke I actually had my eyes swell....Dino was like "Alright!!!" and gave him a Valiant shirt...and he took it..as we are leaving Fred Pierce says "hi" and christopher waved..
He actually interacted with people he does not know...
I left...I had to call my wife and tell her what happenned...sorry Dino and Atom! if I left without saying "goodbye"...but, I was really in shock...
We then went to see Sean Chen and Bernard Chang...Sean's son travis was there and he said Hi to them...wow...we are on a roll!!!!
I talk to bernard about some things and Bernard asks Christopher..."who is your favorite character...?"
Christopher again says "Shadowman"...Bernard digs into his bag and gives Christopher some Ninjak cards he had...
I sincerely!!!! want to Thank Dino, ATOM!, Fred, Warren and all at VALIANT Entertainment...
They treated all the Valiant fans to a memorable weekend...and they perhaps, in a way...
gave my son the push he needed to break out of his shyness!...
Thank You all so, so much!

I love the idea of the new Valiant universe leaving a strong early impression on a potential future comic fan. I grew up on Marvel books, but I think Valiant is a much more exciting imaginative sandbox to play in right now. Great story - you guys had a really special experience at NYCC.

Re: Christopher opens up at the VALIANT Booth
What's funny is that my son (15 years) did the opposite when we visited the Valiant office. He was that tall skinny dark-haired kid hanging way off in the corner as we yakked up Dino and Atom!. He's not a comic book nut, per se, but he loves pop culture stuff which is why I brought him.
I asked why he didn't join us in the revelry and he said he felt out of place with so many die-hard Valiant fans; he didn't want to get in the way of me having a great time with you guys. So he just lurked silently in the corner while I had my fun. Bless his heart.

Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?

Hey that's great! When I was a kid I was pretty shy and even as an adult I sometimes like to keep to myself buy my 2 year old is very friendly and outgoing ... nothing like I was. Anyways that's great. I'm happy for you, I hope it keeps up. Being shy as a kid is no fun!

That's a cool sorry.
Glad you both had fun.
It's those things that make life special, not just a day.
