X-O Manowar #9 preview

X-O Manowar #10 cover

Same dude, right?
I guess he goes after Aric for what the Vine did to him?

Same dude. Some of it may be revenge, bet some of it is brain-washing/assimilation.
Rat *SQUEE*.
I thought those that he was captured with all died during the escape attempt - it says he is genetically similar, so he may not be from the same time, but it sounds like he was. Interesting. Guess not all of them escaped/died?

On my iPad I couldn't zoom in on that page to read the text, so thanks for posting. Seems pretty clear to me that that is Gafti. Avagis was a baby when abducted and would not have any knowledge of his people.

I need to go back and re-read those early books - I thought all his fellow visigoths were killed, other than the kidnapped baby. Looking forward to the new book - thankfully my LCS will be open on Wednesday. While I am eager to see the rest of the Ninjak arc, I'm most excited for Planet Death

That Clayton Crain cover still creeps me out. Aric is just floating there in space awkwardly tilting his groin towards me.

ON another note, Brian Reber's colours are incredible. As a minor league colourist myself, the guy is one of my heroes. Every book I've seen from him is phenomenal, and I'm glad he's on these books I love!

How heartbreaking if it is Gafti. Aric never did check if Gafti is actually dead. He just went on a rage after he thought Gafti died from the blast.

The art in this preview is absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to read this arc, in fact....I'm a little behind in my X-O reading and need to pick up the last issue that came out and re-read the series as a whole so I can feel like I'm back at 100%. But man, what an awesome preview for issue #9!

I agree his right leg looks slightly atrophied and disturbingly akimbo, not so hot on that cover. The Beyonder wrote:That Clayton Crain cover still creeps me out. Aric is just floating there in space awkwardly tilting his groin towards me.
Glad Nord is the pullbox.

It's a bit of a shame about that gimpy leg on the Crain cover, really - that other Planet Death image by him is just phenomenal...hawkeyeps wrote:I agree his right leg looks slightly atrophied and disturbingly akimbo, not so hot on that cover. The Beyonder wrote:That Clayton Crain cover still creeps me out. I agree. I met Clayton Crain at the first Calgary comic con, nice guy I got a signed print of Iron Man hassling Spider-Man.grendeljd wrote:It's a bit of a shame about that gimpy leg on the Crain cover, really - that other Planet Death image by him is just phenomenal...hawkeyeps wrote:I agree his right leg looks slightly atrophied and disturbingly akimbo, not so hot on that cover. The Beyonder wrote:That Clayton Crain cover still creeps me out. I thought his early Black Spider-Man stuff was amazing.
Shame about the leg

If you aren't following him, check out Cary Nord's facebook. He put a small pic up of the top of a page from issue #11. It looks like he is inking himself and it looks friggin fantastic. The page has a Paquette-ish look to it. Can't wait to see the finished issue.

Compare that crain cover to this fan art Valiant posted on Twitter the other day.
This actually has a pose with energy and intensity.

I met Clayton Crain at the same Calgary Con, and he was nice enough. But that cover just seems awkward and "phoned in".

Re: First Look at Planet Death! XO #9 Preview & SPOILERS
Personally I never thought the Vine might have kept the kidnapped baby. Figured they killed it after they left Earth. Would be interesting if Avagis was a character at some point. But the only motivation I can figure that the Vine would keep a baby around for is some kind of weird experiments.pixierosa wrote:I need to go back and re-read those early books - I thought all his fellow visigoths were killed, other than the kidnapped baby.
