Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
Finally got a chance to go to some stores.
My LCS: Small store, they don't have the buying power for the higher end variants. My box had both a regular cover and a Zircher cover. No CD.
Newbury Comics (chain): On the shelves they had only one Zircher cover.

Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
Talked to my LCS today (we're a small market.). He only received one of the character design and gave that to me. No more zirchers on the shelves, just the regular cover.
"Sorry, no. You are absolutely about to pepper spray the wrong guy."

Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
Lack of CD covers seems to be affecting sales of the regular version (in a good way).
I was in Jim Hanley's Universe (one of the bigger stores in Manhattan) a few days ago. They had 5 copies of the Zircher on the shelf at $25 each and no copies of either of the regular or CD.
When I was in Midtown's Times Square store last Friday they had plenty of the regular but none of the CD. There was a sign that said the Zircher was available behind the counter. Was in again today and there were no copies of the regular version on the shelf (and they tend to leave them out for a few months; A&A #1 and Bloodshot #1 are still available as "new" issues); no CDs, but Zircher was on the wall for $60.
BTW, all of the Harbinger #1 2nd prints on the shelf has some sort of print defect at the top of the back cover; a sort of wrinkling across the entire thing; so that might be tough to find in a really high grade. #2 2nd print looked fine.

Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
Whats interesting to me is Midtown is selling the Zirchers for $51 on their website. I dont understand why would they sell books this way? I assume there is a discount of 15% at the store.
Midtown Comics is one of the largest Valiant supporters. We can assume that VEI has good relations with Midtown. Isnt their office just across the street. If someone buys the 1:50 variant at $60. They would be upset if these books are selling for cover price.
Zircher is going to be the most popular name among all cover artist of VEI.

Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
If you shop regularly at Midtown (as I do), they keep a running tally of your purchases and you get $20 back when you spend $100, which amounts to a 16.66% discount.
They're not quite "across the street" but they're not far. Walking distance. The employees that I asked about X-O 6 didn't seem to know much about the issue, so I assume they just priced the variant based on the stated ratio.

Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
I went in to my lcs today to talk about the price for the Zircher Variant held for me [they wanted $50]. I described what was going on to the store manager, she had a look at current ebay BIN's and offered to sell it to me for $20. I'm okay with that, and a happy owner of one now

I'd say. TBH, the way the other thread made it sound, there were thousands sitting on the shelf, none of these make it seem that way at all. It's still curious how wide spread the distribution is...Elveen wrote:This thread is interesting.

Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
I think they're pretty wide-spread...like I said, I passed on purchasing multiples for cover. I had one in my pullbox at my LCS, and I'm happy to have one, but I don't think they should be selling even more than $10/piece.etos45 wrote:I'd say. Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
I was hoping that my LCS would have the X-O #6 CD cover in today, and that it just was going to show up a week late like the A&A CD cover. Alas, it was not there.

Fascinating set of replies. It seems that while the Zircher cover isnt quite the rarity we expected, it is still not out there in the same numbers as a regular cover, Meanwhile the CD is genuinely hard to find (for now).
Do you know what though? It's a bloody good book regardless of what's on the front!

I went on Monday to the following stores:
Castro Valley, CA
1 Zircher, 1 regular, no CD
Dublin, CA
3 Zircher, 1 regular, no CD
San Leandro, CA
no X-O 6s at all
EDIT: All the Zrichers have some spine damage.

Re: Survey of XO #6 availability
Sorry, yes. At least that's how it worked last time I checked. But since I just recently started picking comics back up again (with the Valiant relaunch) they may have changed it a bit. When I picked up a batch of books a couple weeks ago, I got some seemingly random amount discounted (not $20) from my purchase, and didn't inquire about it.greg wrote:Do you mean you get $20 store credit when you spend $100?kjjohanson wrote:If you shop regularly at Midtown (as I do), they keep a running tally of your purchases and you get $20 back when you spend $100, which amounts to a 16.66% discount..

What may have happened is that you reached the $100 with some of your purchases and they may have started to give you store credit for the remainder. You may find next time you go that you still have $15 in store credit to use up.
At least, that's how I found out I hit the $100 mark last month...

Of course, I couldn't help but laugh when I gave the guy my code and he puts it in, does a double take looking at the screen, and says that it was the first purchase I've made there in over 5 years!
