The return of the Valiant Free View! [or] PAY IT FORWARD!
I, like many of you, have a hoarding problem. I buy more comics than I need, and then I have headaches trying to safely store them. I participated in Paradise's many awesome deals, but that left me with many doubles I simply don't need.
I've found a solution for that problem, and hopefully it is one that will help grow Valiant sales.
I created a new kind of Valiant Free View: one where you give fellow patrons of your LCS their first Valiant comic.
It was simple, and you can do it too!
1. First I created a flyer explaining why this awesome free comic ended up in their box. [I'll send you my PSD if you want to work off of that]
2. Then I printed 20 copies and inserted them into bagged and boarded Valiant #1s (Bloodshot, Harbinger, or XO).
3. Then I gave them to my LCS and asked that they stick them in the pull-boxes of readers that have similar interests. So, if someone likes Conan or Iron Man, give them a copy of XO. If someone likes the Punisher then give them Bloodshot, etc. They thought it was a great idea and were happy to do it.
So, my doubles are now all cleared out and I feel better about trying to grow the Valiant fan base!
If you want my flyer PSD, PM me with your email address and I'll be happy to send it along.
Here's some photos documenting the event.

Here's a look at the flyer:

Here's my request that if they like it, they buy the next issue, and if they don't they return it to the shop so the LCS can stuff it in someone else's pull-box:

Hey, send me a PM and let me know what store has that great Toon Tumbler display!
Great idea for VEI too. Reminds me of when I was handing out Greg's "How to collect Valiant" flyer at comic shows to people curious about my Valiant boxes.

Usually if I have extra Valiant books, I will include a few Valiant books to the comics that I sell.
This is crazy. Giving away Valiant books! VEI needs to see this and give you a Gold.

I was going to say that this is a cheap ploy to get a gold.drmirage wrote:You deserve a GOLD BOOK for doing this!

But, it's a nice cheap ploy to get a gold.

Okay, maybe not so cheap, at $3.99 a popkjjohanson wrote:I was going to say that this is a cheap ploy to get a gold.drmirage wrote:You deserve a GOLD BOOK for doing this!

The golds are selling for less that that. Just saw A&A Gold sell for $51.
I genuinely want new readers to discover Valiant, and this was the best idea I had to help that happen.
Anyone out there sitting on a bunch of #1 doubles should do the same! PM me and I'll give you the photoshop document to print your own flyers!

Great Idea! I'm happy to see that Dinesh thinks so as well, as you've won a Gold Book for your efforts!
Hopefully your altruism will affect others into doing the same!

Thanks. Dino tweeted me last night, so a gold should be forthcoming! There was one time where the same thing happened and I never got the gold, so fingers crossed. There's no guarantees in freebies!
Really though, the rest of the board members that participated in Ed's deals and have dozens of doubles should do this too. If we don't get readership to grow, we might be SOL in a few years with no more new books and they'll be sitting on dozens of quarter bin books!
