I recently caught up a bit on Wonder Woman, and enjoyed it.

I also picked up the Batwoman hardcover of the first 6 issues, so I'll be catching up on that.

I read all of the Wonder Woman issues recently and liked them - especially the Chang artwork. Although, it seems WW has stumbled into Gaiman's Sandman with the cast of immortals reminding me very much of The Endless.

And the 1st Batwoman I really liked, especially the Williams drawn issues. The 2nd story arc is choppy to me, due to the time/character perspective jumps, but it might flow better read as one chunk.

Heh. Animal Man and Swamp Thing is really all you need from the New 52.

I'm still getting Flash and Aquaman, but they aren't "must reads."

AM & SW - they're my top favourites of the New 52 also. I'm *almost* at the point where they are the only N52 titles I am gonna keep reading...

I'm also reading Resurrection Man & Batman, but RM is getting cancelled soon, and although I like the Court Of Owls story currently happening in Batman, I really don't appreciate the jump to $3.99, even with the extra back-up pages. I probably will drop that one once the CoO story is done & I am up to 4 Valiant titles a month

I tried out Dial H to see what Meiville was gonna do with it [LOVE that guys books], but so far I am not overly impressed.

The Transformers: Regeneration One #80.5, it's only the great artwork that protects and/or saves only a slightly average recap and tease story with some very cheesy and over-the-top dialogue. Could have been much better, but could have been much worse. Furman and company had better bring their AAA+++ games or I'll drop this book faster than a New York minute. I give this FCBD issue a 3 out of 5.

I missed out on this because I had ta work on FCBD... so *SQUEE* about that! I have the full set of 80 Marvel TF issues, and I loved the Furman/Wildman run [still do]. I shall try this one out with fingers crossed that its a good go... and I'll hunt that 80.5 down on ebay at some point, I guess.

I'm thinking about checking out Swamp Thing because of all the positive stuff I've heard. Does anyone read Justice League Dark? It seems interesting.

The first 8 issues were a mess. Jeff Lemire took over with #9 and it immediately picked up. I thank Steve Trevor's cameo. He's already salvaged the main JL book.

I just finished read Batman Hush. I enjoyed it more the second time around.

Now I'm re-reading Ruse from Crossgen. I LOVE the first 12 issues that Waid wrote. Every time I read ANY Crossgen (or about any crossgen, I did not like The First) I am so bummed that there are not books.

Ruse #1 is GREAT!!!!! One of the best single issues I've read. It's so story heavy and amazing to look at. Great character development. for me a easy 5/5.

I've really been enjoying Bryan Q. Miller's work on Smallville Season 11. Since he worked on the tv series he has a great feel for the continuity. It's rather nice to see Clark & Lois still together in at least one comic. :/ I remember buying Superman as a weekly in the 90s, so this is nice to know that I have a new Superman comic every Friday for only a buck. I loved Bryan's work on Batgirl as well, so I'm pretty jazzed to hear that he's bringing Stephanie Brown to Smallville in September, along with that pointy-eared boss of hers.

IMHO Furman hasn't written a half-way decent Transformers comic since G2 ended. Frankly if it weren't for Andrew Wildman and Stephen Baskerville doing the artwork I wouldn't even bother with it (even though their cover to #81 looks way to silly for me to take the book seriously).

If you want some really great reads check out: Transformers: Chaos Theory (IMHO this is the GREATEST Transformers storylines) and Transformers: Chaos TPBs (A wild fight) and the current IDW G1 Universe Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye and Transformers: Robots in Disguise. They are far better than anything Furman has ever written.

Higher Earth 2: the story is pretty cool, I like it. The art is pretty rough though, and isn't very good at telling the story. It looks more like a collection of pictures than it does visual storytelling. If the art was better, it would be a solid 4 out of 5, but the art drops it to a 3.

Saga 4: the first panel of this alone was the best comic I read all week. It continueds to be awesome. 5 out of 5.

Godzilla 2: this is a pretty fun "dudes fighting giant monsters" book. I wish there was a little more in this issue, but I'm looking forward to the next issue after this. 4 out of 5.

Dancer 2: I'm digging this book, it's like noir sci-fi. It's cool. 4 out of 5.

Massive 1: I like the look and feel of this book a lot. This issue was really an establishing book, established characters, setting, and situation. Not a lot of moving the plot forward. Still, I really liked this. 4 out of 5.

Mind the Gap 2: Not as meaty as the first issue, a lot of mystery bits that don't mean much now. This will be interesting to read again when it's all done with. Just a bit of a lull in this issue. Looked great though, even with the misprinted pages. 3.5 out of 5.

A vs. X 6: if this was the first issue of the series, I might have actually been interested in this. It was good, but it was too little, too late.

Thanks for the recommendation, I just might have a look at some TF:Chaos Theory. I was eyeing it on the shelves as it came out, but to be honest I don't care for how IDW is handling TF these days. I don't doubt that the two new current series are good, but I don't like the marketing aspect of being compelled to buy two TF books to follow a story...

I actually really enjoyed the TF:Infiltration, Escalation & Devastation mini-series by Furman quite a bit, it was after that when you had to start following one-shots & too many other mini-series to get the overall storyline that I gave up on it all.

I did try the first few issues of that TF run that stopped shortly after the Chaos Theory story, but it didn't hold me enthralled... and frankly I am also tired of every title I like getting constantly re-jacked at #1 again, as part of a marketing ploy to boost sales. I don't like it when I feel I'm being treated like a mindless, idiot consumer that will just snap up everything a company dishes out based on my interests...

stuff I grabbed this week;

TWD #99 - felt mildly predictable, but still created some tension for the big one coming up.

Saga #4 - was ALL cool, & that first panel made my day too!

Next Men #44 - hmmm. Wrapped up the story and all, not sure how I feel about it yet.

Iron Man #519 - the only Marvel book I still read... sadly. And if Fraction & Larroca leave, I probably will too. I really hate paying $3.99 for a 20 page comic!!!!!
This one is still *just* good enough IMHO to warrant it, for now.

I read the "Near Death" Volume 1 TPB last night in one sitting at 1:00am. Jay Faerber wrote it well to keep me awake that long that late at night. Jay doesn't overwite the dialogue or story. I became invested in the characters. The plot summary is basically that a sociopathic hitman without a conscious gets shot on a job and dies and goes to hell and sees everyone he's killed and gets the idea that he can balance the scales by starting to save lives. It's interesting watching the character struggle with his sociopathic tendencies and selfish motivations for saving lives. The only negative is that the story gets somewhat repetitive and predictable and I'm not really sure where the writer is or can go with it. I really enjoyed Volume 1 though.

IMHO Furman has not written a half-way decent Transformers comic book series since The Transformers: Generation 2 ended. His last 2 turds (Revelation and Maximum Dinobots) from the IDW G1 Universe are 2 of 4 worse comics I've ever had to misfortune to ever read.

#80.5 is basically a glorified recap with some new bits set 20 years later (or present day Cybertron) with Kup, Ultra Magnus, and Hot Rod telling Optimus Prime that Soundwave is rallying the remains of the Decepticons and it ends with Soundwave taking control of a satellite that is supposed to protect Cybertron from asteroids and he uses it to destroy the Last Autobot, whose standing around in the center of Iacon like a statue. The only reason that I'm buying this series is for the art and it's a really twenty issue maxi-series it ends at #100.

Read the recent IDW G1 series it's MUCH better than anything Furman ever did.

The last 2 issues of Chaos Theory are mind blowing awesome. Everyone here should read it. In 2 issues I learned more and new things about Optimus Prime and Megatron than in 30 years in any media! That it's got great art as well is a bonus.

MTMTE is a space opera with a wicked sense of humor and strong characterization and RiD is a polictal drama with strong characterization and some really interesting ideas in rebuilding Cybertron in a post war era.

Both of them also have a sense of universe building each showing the readers new factions like the NAILs (netural TFs) and the upcoming DJD (the Decepticons Justice Division) and new takes on older concepts like the Monoformers (aka the Action Masters this time as a regilous cult) while giving second, third, and even fourth string characters like Swerve, Tailpipe, Chromedome, Brainstorm, Wheeljack, Prowl, and Bombshell a chance to shine and have personlities, to introducing all new characters like Rung and Turmoil and Japanese-excuslive G1 characters like Metalhawk (and as well characters like Overlord, and Dai Atlas from The Last Stand of the Wreckers and Drift respectfully) and even non-G1 characters like Lockdown and Skybite into an US G1 Universe.

@cyberstrike - wow, man... Thanks very much for all the TF info & recommendations. You've got me convinced I will check out the Chaos Theory tpb's at the very least. Some of the other stuff sounds pretty cool too.

I still have a soft spot for good old G1 transformers, & I kinda miss following a TF series. Didn't know the Regeneration One is only going up to #100, I still intend to try that one out.

From what I understand, this one was IDW's fastest selling Artist Edition to date. Might want to jump on it quick if you do want to get one of these.

Also, there is a SDCC variant edition of this one.
