Never seen it with the thought bubbles before. Interesting but oohing new, really...these are all the same thoughts Pete heard in the cafeteria last issue.

As soon as I saw the cover, it was the first new thing I noticed.

In addition, I have some stronger guesses now about Torque, amongst others.

I don;t think they will kill him on the first set, either.

Judging from the way Valiant has been pacing their stories, I'd say Torque will be fleshed out a little more than in the previous iteration. I still fully expect him to be killed, but it might have an even bigger impact this time around if they really make him a character people care about. He just wasn't very interesting to me the first time around and I felt he was much more important dead.

Though, Valiant could also use him to mess with old readers and have him constantly in situations where you're saying, "This is it, he's gonna die!"

That would be sooooo hilarious. Doesn't really fit the tone of the book right now unless it really was just him constantly in serious near death situations, but would still be great either way.

I also think it would be interesting if a different character was killed off instead. Have a story where Torque seems like a goner then Flamingo, or Kris are killed instead. If Kris was killed, Pete would probably flip out. If Flamingo dies, we could see some similar beats as when Torque died but with the roles reversed.

THIS is the way I'm envisioning it. We THINK Torque will die, then.... Oh, no. It's SOMEONE ELSE!

It would be an interesting twist, maybe if it were Joe (though, I'd actually like to see him survive). I don't think I'd want to lose Kris and Flamingo is too much... um... "fun"?

I don't think Joe is long for this world...I have a feeling his "death" will once again spur on the conflict between Pete and Harada.

Me too, as well as Peter's right shoulder is that Torque, I can somewhat read the thought bubble, but it would be totally something he'd say. (from what I have read of the original series)

"Harada's golden child. Pff... Whatever."

He hears the same thoughts when he walks in the lunch room. I also think it's Torque.
