I got excited for Harbinger somehow (interview, Previews, cover, maybe a podcast but I can't recall) and added it to my DCBS order and then added X-O #2 as well. I went to my nearest comic shop for FCBD and got the Aja cover for X-O #1 and I've gotten all the titles since then (though not all the covers) and plan to follow the rest of the titles that come out from Valiant.
COOL! New Valiant fans are awesome! Have you read any VH1 Valiant yet after discovering the new stuff?

Not yet. I might get some of the stuff on Comixology eventually though.

I don't go into bars or pools so that doesn't really seem any more convenient to me.

Aren't you supposed to wait 30 minutes?
Trust me. Eating fish tacos, drinking pina coladas and cervesas, and hanging out in a pool go together very, very well.

Also, I can't say as much about your ability to quote hidden text

Somehow to me, fish and tacos aren't foods that should ever meet. That's like melting a slice of american cheese on chinese food. :o

Though to be honest, I've never tried either combination. But it just don't seem right.

Yeah, well, there's the rub. I'll have to try them, I guess, but not a huge seafood guy. I make a point of trying foods I've never eaten before. If you had told me when I was a kid that I'd eventually like an olive loaf and garlic bologna sandwich, I woulda called you nuts.

Tacos are from Mexico. They do a lot of fishing in Mexico. A match made in delicious heaven.

I am a new VEI fan. I was born in '92 so I wasn't able to read when the original VH1 was around. (My parents brought me up with Tales from the Crypt and Gremlins instead of comics). I was able to read X-O #0, Shadowman #1, and Solar #1. I liked Shadowman most. Altough favorite character was "Hattie the Hydrant". I will hope to try and read a little more as my catch-ups let down (Invincible/Brit/Wolf-Man and Hellboy/BPRD) but I find it hard to read "out-of-continuity" stuff because I tend to go faster not pay attention like I should (I did this with Byrne's Man of Steel, even though I still liked it). But I don't close my doors completely. I never really read comics seriously until about a year ago and I just picked up stuff like Irredeemable and Incorruptible because the Marvel and DC scared me with all of their long history (I know now that I don't need to care about that). When new 52 came I read Men of War because I remembered Sgt. Rock from when I was little when I used to be able to get a comic from the grocery store when my family would go to New Hampshire (once got a superman issue with some nudity, showed it to my dad, then the comic mysteriously disappeared later). but I stopped getting them. My brother still gets some of them but I stucked with Image. Now I checked out some of these and thought they were neat. Most recently when I worked out I imagines I was Bloodshot (don't laugh, it helps!) So it already has a place in my head. Well, there is my story, IDK if these will reinvigorate my feelings of times in NH when I was little (even though I really just looked at the pictures mostly back then) but i know these will be good. Hope you all enjoyed my time travels.

And I don't think I will try a fishy taco.

Never had a fish taco until three years ago. Now they are the regular rotation of meals. I have a pretty healthy recipe for fish tacos with mango avocado salsa. Super easy. Super delicious.

My best meals eating out have always been fish. Of course, my worst meals out have always been fish. It isn't tough to cook, but it is easy to screw it up, or just cheap out into garbage. Pittsburgh has an incredible fish market. My girls even love lunch there. Last time, we split two fish sandwiches amongst the five of us, and had plenty left over.

You'd get along with my wife, who orders seafood at every opportunity in a restaurant. She's one of those southern Italian guineas that loves the stuff; the more tentacles and bi-valves it has, the better. I've heard all the stories of her family Christmas dinners when she was a kid; an octopus in a pot on the stove, Uncle Frankie who scared all the kids by dumping a bag of eels in front of them, etc. Blech. Not for me, thanks.

But I think I can manage a fish taco. And maybe a swordfish steak on the grill now and again.

New fan, here.
As i posted in my intro thread, I've only heard of Valiant until earlier this year when they started marketing X-0 #1 (the talking variant buzz).

I was brought to monthlies again since my early teens (I was out of US comics between 91 and 98, previously being mostly a Marvel collector, along with the Wolfman/Pérez Teen Titans and the occasional Bat-book I could get - which at the time we're terribly promoted in my country)
Things for DC only changed after DKR, Year One and Killing Joke became best-sellers AND THE GRAPHIC NOVEL SNOBS BEGAN TO BUY THOSE BOOKS, because they were not comics for kids, anymore.
The New DC 52 and the Schism in the X-books are responsible for my opening of a pullbox in many years, since most of my reads we're Manga (HUGE, HUGE FAN OF RUROUNI KENSHIN) and the occasional Bat-TPB/HC.

Starting this October my pull list will CONTINUE TO BE everything Valiant, 5 DC (ALL Bat-titles with Bruce) books and ONLY 1 Marvel Book (WATXM).

More funds for my new quest: get all those good VH1 books.

It's not my fault that a great publisher starts printing excellent books at the same time one of the Big 2 is shooting themselves in the foot (or is it hammering?!).

DC STILL has my money, only because there are TERRIFIC BATMAN STORIES being told in 2 of these 5 Bruce-titles. I have the faith that soon it will be a 5 out of 5- Layman & Hurwitz are new, and Tomasi can get better yet.

Peace

Similar origins, Portuguese family... Christmas always had codfish cake and tentacled messes at dinner. As a child, I avoided. When I was in Portugal last summer, I watched a four year old child eat squid in squid ink for dinner. The waiter recommended it. Truly fantastic. Fresh, clean, different, wonderful. The more I eat, the more I like. My wife ate tuna steaks two months ago that tasted better than nearly any steak I had ever eaten.

Of course, mishandled... It is disastrous. Even shrimp turn into rubber balls when overcooked by just two minutes.
