It's not painting a very pretty picture in my mind, that's for sure.

You naughty boys... nothing so wicked

Let's say I'm a prominent customer in my home comics shop. Diamond distributions used to give away stuff for late distribution and such and i had the chance to pick up some ggodies for free. One of them was this beauty. To say the truth it's been many years unnoticed in my collection until i got the Valiant itch back...

Glad you cleared that up. Even as much as I like the Eternal Warrior Gold, the scenario Whett described just wouldn't be worth it.

You know, it comes and goes, but with proper medication, you can keep flareups to a minimum.

I wouldn't say it was my best deal ever but I just recently bought a CEAR described as fine for $68 off eBay. I was worried that I over paid. When the book arrived yesterday it was in fantastic condition. What the seller described as bent top and bottom right corners was miniscule. I had to use the light test to even see the bends. Of course that means it's not nm but I'd say it falls in the 9.0 or 9.2 category. I did a very detailed inspection of the rest of the book and found nothing...

Needless to say I was pretty happy. First time I've ever seen something under graded from eBay.

Magnus 1-12
Solar 1-6
X-O 1-5
Rai 1-3
Harbinger 1-6

$80

Here's the story,

I walk into a shop and start looking for the goods. I don't see any Valiants so I ask the guy if he has any stashed away. He says he has a ton, if I watch his store for a minute, he'll bring up a box. First thing I think is wow, this guy is pretty trustworthy! Then I wonder what a ton means. Prolly lots of mid run issues. He comes up after five minutes with the pre-unity magnus run. He says there's more down there, but he would need to take some time to look. I asked if he wouldn't mind if I did the honors. He agreed and led me down to his stored books. After about 20 minutes, I pulled out the above runs and left a bunch of pre unities for others to find and enjoy.

I bring the books to the counter and he pulls out his overstreet. I don't know what the list prices are in overstreet, but I was certain I wasn't going to get a great deal. To save him the aggravation, I offer up $75 cash for the lot. He counters with $80 and I walk out the door with a pre unity lot that looks to have been bagged and boarded the day they were conceived. The only problem is my wife now wants to kill me!

It's even harder to explain after I just put her on a budget. Then I go out and pull this. What can I say, can I speak for all and say we're addicts? :)

That would be a tough spot to be in after just putting her on a budget. That must have made for some interesting conversation in the car ride back to your house.

So far my wife has been very tolerant of my "comic book addiction", but there have been times when her eyebrows have raised a little.

 I was alone for that car ride! But, It was still interesting because I worried the whole way home. There was no way around the *SQUEE* chewing. It's nice your wife has tolerance. Mine won't budge from her perception of my silly hobbies. Oh well, no ones perfect.
