How awesome is VEI?...check this out

VEI ran a twitter drawing yesterday called Walk in Wednesday. Take a picture of you, your comics and your retailer yesterday and tweet the picture to #walkinwednesday for a chance to win a A&A 1:100. I probably say 40-50 pics were posted for a shot at the book.

And then VEI just tweeted this moments ago:
We were so blown away by #WALKINWEDNESDAY's success, we've decided to give EVERY PARTICIPANT a Neal Adams variant cover as a show of thanks!

I have a pretty big mouth but I was speechless when I read this. UNBELIEVABLE. I told my gf yesterday that I had a gut feeling that every participant was going to get something but I never imagined this.

It really makes me feel like the effort i've gone to talk up Valiant in all of my local shops and giving away my reading copies to friends to get them hooked was soooooo worth it.

I saw the tweets but didn't know it was a contest. That is pretty cool. I could have taken a picture of me in front of my monitor with my latest DCBS order pulled up, but I don't think that would have sufficed.

There was one guy that I think may have gotten entered by taking a webcam photo of himself and showing that he had a bought a digital copy of Massive. I wonder if he got one too. Then maybe folks like poor Chiclo can do something to still qualify for these things.

This was the first variant I was gonna skip on initially for cost reasons. I *might* be able to keep my complete Valiant collection going another month or two now.

being a self proclaimed world class internetz pirate myself I agree. sometimes I use illegal downloads to give stuff a look and decide whether or not it's worth my money. I might be an exception to the rule but if you impress me with something I haven't already decided to spend my money on, you'll still get my money even after an illegal DL.

Did you guys see how many were from our two stores? We took active part in this (without knowing about the "everyone gets one" result) to support Valiant and create a fun interactive experience. Now all those customers will get a nice gift, I am SOOOOOOO Happy.

I am not surprised though. Hunter and Atom have been doing some great stuff marketing their brand, this is just another one of those.

My response was something like "Wow, how could you own/run a comic shop and only buy from Marvel and DC?"

I told him he was missing out on the best comics out there and asked him to reconsider his ordering decisions.

Then I went home and bought A&A on my iPad.

The shop I went to had one copy of Archer & Armstrong #1 left on the shelf, but they have been doing pretty good at ordering them. I think they are just selling fast.

As I understand it, if you delete the downloaded material within 24 hours of downloading it, then the act was a legal one.

At least under the DMCA. Canada may have different rules.

That is awesome for VEI to give out these books. They are $$$ on the secondary market! Congratulations to all the people who particiapated.

Collectors Cave and Jeffrey's Toys, both of which sell plenty of comics, just no Valiants :-/

Just for kicks, I had my wife go in and ask for Archer & Armstrong about five minutes after me. So they had two people come in back to back asking for it, and she's hot, so they won't forget that! Hope it makes em reconsider their "no indies" policy
