Market Value.
Here are my OPINIONS on current prices for valiant comics. Please feel free to debate, add or change anything I post here. I just thought it would be fun to see how many of us feel issue X is over-valued where issue y is under-valued and ect.
X-O Manowar 1/2 Gold:
Since this is the ultimate book (next to bloodshot plat), it's my opinion that this book pretty much marks the upper bounds. Recent price increases place it at $200ish. I'll concur since I have nothing to compare it with.
CEAR:
Possibly the most desired after X-O manowar 1/2 Gold it's current;y selling for around $100. I feel that it's under-valued when compared to X-O 1/2 Gold's price. So I expect to see it rise.
Harbinger 0 Pink:
Should see a small increase. Possibly $10 in the next few months.
Armorines 0 fallfling:
Over-valued. It's currently selling for more then some of the rarer issues mainly due to Wizard's article.
Shadowman 0 Gold:
Under-Valued. I see alot more people with it on their want list as one of the last items to complete then I've seen on eBay being sold.
Blooshot 0 Gold:
It's value is about where it should be in honest opinion.
Rai #3,4:
Over-valued. $25ish a piece for comics that have 35,000 in exsistance? Come on
Rai #9 & Magnus #21 Gold:
Way over-valued. There are some of the easiest golds to find online. No one should pay more then $10 for either.
Ninjak #1 Gold:
They have a high print run (relatively speaking for golds) yet I've not seen one in three weeks of eBay surfing. Under-Valued.
More as I think about them...

I disagree on the Armorines Fall flings. It is a hard book to find and has been going for alot before the Wizard came out. Here is a one I sold in VF/NM on March 19 for 56.55.

I have one up for bid that is around $10.00 right now. Someone might be able to get it cheap in NM.x-omatic wrote:I disagree on the Armorines Fall flings. It is a hard book to find and has been going for alot before the Wizard came out. Here is a one I sold in VF/NM on March 19 for 56.55.

X-O 1/2 Gold may be, currently, the 'highest price at the moment' book...but it's certainly not the ultimate Valiant book. After Aug002 and whoever is done spending their money on them, and a few more of them come out of the woodwork (I would be willing to bet they're all in the inventories of Wizard employees/dealers who've yet to notice), it will take it's rightful place among the rest of the golds....whetteon wrote:

I don't think the Rai issues are overvalued at all, especially in mint condition. First, there were 35,000 or so printed, but how many are still around and in good shape? Especially #3 which is hard to find where the cover isn't mis-cut. I've seen 8 or 9 #3's over the years and only one where the box at the top or the Valiant logo box hasn't been cut off. And issue 4 is almost as bad. Print runs today are small by comparison - most of the Crossgen books are less than 10,000 each, that's about 180 issues for each state! But you can find any back issue in mint condition. Valiant 1 titles, especially pre-Unity issues have been sitting around in $1 boxes,(until recently), dusty, pawed-over for 10-12 years and most aren't NM if you can find them. I'm not sure that CGC (don't know much about their procedures) takes into account the miscut covers on Rai #3 & #4 when or if they grade them, but they definitely should. They are tuff!

Re: Market Value.
I have to agree with Zeph here. The 1/2 issue does not excite me, and neither does the platinum (although my opinion of this book has increased significantly since the number of issues became known).
I'd put Harbinger 1, hands down at the top of my list. While the limited books may (but may not!) always sell for more, this is the most important book in the Valiant Universe over all time...
...now, at the present moment, the rotten PvM Trade (a reprint for goodness sake) would have to be considered the ultimate find. I think this is more due to apathy and ignorance than a true scarcity, but time may prove me wrong there.

Under-valued. The print run and price is unknown but I would pay $5 for one if I knew what I was getting. However, I suspect alot of people will get a copy by accident.
Eternal Warrior #27 VVSS:
Over-valued: Why is this such a hot issue? It has the same print run as Geomancer #1 VVSS, Rai #21 VVSS and Psi-Lords #1 VVSS and yet it's the only one of them to hit over the $100 line. Weird.
Shadowman #0 VVSS:
Under-valued. Does this book exsist? I've seen a total of 0 on eBay and it's not because of the lack of trying.

Agreed. I have always seen huge interest in copies that hit eBay. They are probably ranked in the top 5 most expensive books to own and when you place them together then they become number 2 on that same list. And with such a low print run, these will most likely be the last books many of us will need to finish our collection.Steve G. wrote:I think if X-O 1/2 Gold is going for $200, then the much rarer Diamond Unty TPBs are very undervalued...
The current market is willing to bare $200 for the X-O 1/2 rather that's because of one man or because of 400 men makes no differance. Plus, we have nothing to compare it with. Unless your saying it's just another gold book. Then I would say it's way over-valuedZephyrWasHOT!! wrote:

But you have to say the exact same thing with ANY valiant comics. Each one that was published has the potential to be damaged, misprinted, lost, burned or flushed. Hell, Turok #1 may be the rarest because 990,000 of them were burned at one time but its unlikely. You see the point I'm making? I'm just waiting for the store that has 1,000 copies of each to dump them on the market. (cgc does take the miscut into account and does not deduct much, if any, from the book's over-all grade)Valiant21 wrote:I don't think the Rai issues are overvalued at all, especially in mint condition. I can answer that in one word...Greg. About 9-12 months ago Greg mentioned that he thought EW #27 could be the rarest VVSS, considering that it wasn't a #1 issue and that it might have been underordered. At the time I think we'd recently seen two Geomancer VVSS and one Timewalker VVSS, but no EW #27 VVSS.
When the first EV #27 was on e-bayshortly after, I think people treated what Greg had theorized and taken it as gospel. Couple that with it being the first time it had appeared since it had been added to the checklist and you’ve got yourself a $100+ book. All subsequent prices have reflected the first one, whether it makes sense or not.

Kind of both. It is an exaggeration. However, I went to a store which had pulled out 2 boxes of valiant stuff and flipping through I found at least 10 copies each of issue #3 and #4. When I asked how much they were the owner wanted the full $25 dollars for each comic. I was unwilling to pay this and ask him why such high prices. He proceeded to tell me that eBay sales have placed the price and he has also sent off another 8 to be cgc'ed. It was at this point when I realized these books are just waiting to flood the market. Since then I've speculated that these 2 issues are really only worth about $10-15. Of course if you ever visited my website then you know that speculating is what I do. So, 1,000 copies of each is actually 20. Ok... whew. I can live with 20.
It's funny that the amount was about 20, though, because that seems
to be the "top count" for private/dealer stock of these books.
Unless we're hearing/seeing the same people, that's about the fourth
person that I've heard mention "around 20 copies" on the pre-Unity books.
I agree, you put 20 copies of Rai 3 or Rai 4 on eBay today with no reserve
and someone will probably be winning them at $10. It will be interesting
to see if 20, 200, or 2,000 copies show up on eBay soon...
because I can always use a few more if they'll fall back to cover price.

As you can see from the above links, this seller actually had at least two copies of the X-O 1/2 Gold, and both sold for the BIN of $199.99. It looks like this person might work with Wizard because they also had a bunch of Wizard World edition books for sale, as well.
