Shadowman creative team announced *WITH SPOILERS*

Wow, the interior art on this book looks absolutely amazing and the character design is freakin' stellar, I can't wait to tear this one open and see how this character fits into the Valiant universe and what kind of cool stories will be told with a character such as this. This book is a complete surprise, most of us were waiting on the Eternal Warrior book that was announced in the FCBD giveaway and to see that Shadowman is coming out of thin air just like this is absolutely awesome!

The best part is it's NOT out of thin air (well maybe to most of us regular folks). But it is obvious this has been in the works for a while if the first issue's art is basically in the can and JJ and Zirch (that's right, we're cool like that) have scripted out multiple arcs. That is what is setting the new Valiant apart from other recent start-ups: foresight and planning.

Yeah, I figured this was internally planned but made to me a surprise to the fans, either way I'm pretty pumped up about this book based off of the character's look and the fact that EVERYTHING I've read from VEI has been simply amazing. They really aren't screwing around here, the foresight and long term planning DOES seem to be well in place.

Well I hope baldy isn't Jack and unlike what the creator said in the MTV article, I still hope its more street-level (Orleans); however I really like what I see and I can't wait to read it.

PS Seeing as I remember Jack being half white/black, and this pic has a pregnant woman crying for Mr Baldy, I can only suspect that's Mr and Mrs Boniface.

I think, and of course I could be completely wrong about this, that "not street level" means more horror/supernatural stories than taking out random street thugs.

Shadowman (IMHO) originally hit its stride when it went in that direction with Master Darque, etc, after meandering for few issues with cannibal rednecks and pedophile Harbingers, so I think that is a good way to go.

Of course, watching Jack beat the hell out of the occasional mugger would be awesome, too.

The only thing that surprises me is getting another book on the shelf before January. I had hoped to have one more title towards the end of the year, but had resigned myself to that book being Eternal Warrior, sometime in January-and that's all guesswork-but this is a surprise, after a fashion. I'll reserve detailed comment on it until the first issue is on stands, but the preview B&W art looks nice.
