I cared about the variants but I don't so much any more. I think the spread is too high and too many.
That and I did the calculation on how much space they will take up by the time I'm an old man and how much I would spend to get different covers of the same books...
So I'll probably be sticking to regular issues after the summer of Valiant with only the rare exceptions.

I thought I was gonna care about Variants, and as soon as couldn't get the Xo Voice Variant, I said *SQUEE* THIS, I DON'T GIVE A *SQUEE*. I'M OUT.
I got plenty of the aja #1 variant though, my favorite variant so far, and probably the best one still.

Pretty similar. I would have gone back and got the early ones, but the lists just keep coming of more and more variants. And in 6 months I'm not going to care I have a 1:25 variant to A&A #6 or something else incredibly random. For alot here it's brownie points and the ever unachieavable 100% completion, but I can't bring myself to do that, far too unorganised.MarrowMan wrote:I thought I was gonna care about Variants, and as soon as couldn't get the Xo Voice Variant, I said *SQUEE* THIS, I DON'T GIVE A *SQUEE*. Re: Am I the only one who doesn't care about variant covers?
I was getting all the pullbox variants, and I had the two Harbinger #4 variants and two X-O #5 variants in my DCBS order but I decided I'm not going to chase any of them anymore. The #1 issues were ok but if they are going to keep going I'm not going to spend that kind of money. I removed the Harbinger 4 and X-O 5 regular price variants from my order. I'll just be getting the regular covers going forward. That extra money could go toward reading other books.

Re: Am I the only one who doesn't care about variant covers?
The only reason I care about the variants is because if I don't really care for a particular cover there is usually another one for me to choose from. I like the opportunity to choose my favorite cover
Other wise i couldn't give a *SQUEE* .... thank gosh!

Re: Am I the only one who doesn't care about variant covers?
For me, that only works with 1:1 variants. In which case, I guess you're right. However, if I like one cover over another but the price difference is $20-70, I'm going with the cheaper one.Crow331 wrote:The only reason I care about the variants is because if I don't really care for a particular cover there is usually another one for me to choose from. 100% completion of previous non errors/misprints is achievable, it is just incredibly difficult to do in any reasonably short period of time without vast financial resources.ian_house wrote:Pretty similar. That's why I'm pushing about a little over 90% after 12 years of VH1-VH3 being my primary focus.
But yes... I would call the new VEI universe nearly impossible without (relatively) vast financial resources.
I've been spending 400 to 500% of my normal new and back issue comic budget on the new Valiant and still could not keep up by month 3. That's saying a lot considering that budget has maintained a 23 comic average per month for 12 years and there are only 3 titles out so far.

Considering most of us have waited 15+ years for the return of Valiant, you'd think some of us could wait a few months for the variant market to settle down to avoid breaking the bank.Aram wrote:100% completion of previous non errors/misprints is achievable, it is just incredibly difficult to do in any reasonably short period of time without vast financial resources.ian_house wrote:Pretty similar. Instead? We turn into Pete and demand they "Fall in love with me" now.

If you look at it this way - budgeting for variants could be a positive:
(1) Change one of your meals in the day that would cost on average $6 to $2 (like two Jack-in-the-Box tacos).
(2) Do this everyday (30 days a month)
In the end, you can get most monthly-VEI variants while losing a pound a week without exercising.

Hahaha..excellent suggestion. Valiant is good for the mind and the body with this regimen.slimydog wrote:If you look at it this way - budgeting for variants could be a positive:

Wait... maybe that's what VEI did to US!BugsySig wrote:Considering most of us have waited 15+ years for the return of Valiant, you'd think some of us could wait a few months for the variant market to settle down to avoid breaking the bank.![]()
