GOLD :o

So are the 1:20 and 1:50 the connecting covers, then? That's a little weird.

Wow! That sounds pretty cool ... I also ejected from the chase variants, though.

Is the 1:100 a line wide variant like the archer? But agreed this is taking variants to far :!: I can't wait for the next month to buy a second print for this issue-------NOT :!:

I think this is all just because of the Ninjak "first" appearance...all the other books only have 1:20s listed for the same month. The 1:100 line wide variants may be continuing, however, if VEI finds them to be successful in encouraging higher orders.

5 covers for a fifth issue is a lot, though...and I am starting to understand the frustration of the completionists out there.

I'm not gonna get *SQUEE* at VEI for doing this, but I think they're only hurting themselves. The ones who want books like these are all variants or no variant types, and the harder they make it to get them all, the more there are that will go for the nothing. So the retailers now won't even get my dollars for the pullbox and multiple printing covers which means the retailers will end up ordering less from distribution. I'm sure I won't be the only one going this route.

They are reprinting the X-O #1 regular cover with a gold logo and using it as a 1:100 variant or something like that. They are starting to really water down the coolness of the variants now. Yeesh.

Honestly, it doesn't matter to me as I'm only going to get the certain variants that I like, but after a while, it's not going to matter to everyone else either. That's when the variants won't be helping much.

Yup, also done with variants. As I was the only one chasing them all down - and helping my LCS get his hands on them by paying for lots of extra copies -I'll be passing along my message to them not to bother in the future. Valiant is supposed to be leading the pack with innovations, not following it with gimmicks. How about getting books into the hands of the 200,000 + people who have left the industry in the last 20 years. How about getting them into places that are accessible to most people (7-11, free comic downloads of 1st issues on major news and entertainment websites). Seriously, lead by example guys.

It's not that simple. If guys like me who have gone after most of the variants so far and sitting on the fence walk away from getting any more than the retailers won't be able to sell the variants for much money/lose revenue. This will cause the retailers to order less copies, (no need in ordering up to a variant that doesn't sell), less revenue for the company, etc., etc. You get the point...

Anyone know about the other comics that month? I know that multiple covers have been announced, but anyone know if they are variants, pullboxes, or 1:20's?

If you don't like complaints about the variants, then just don't read them. :thumb:
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

That's what I was getting at earlier. I think this has the potential to hurt the company. And that hurts all of us...including the ones who tell is to stop complaining.

well, despite whether or not individuals "like", "dislike", cannot obtain due to rareness, availability (regional problems, etc) or if it's economically viable to said individuals, there are still probably plenty of people who WILL be getting them regardless, (I'm sure enough people will be crazy enough/rich enough) With that said, I doubt VEI will stop anytime soon.

XO #1 Gold is a line wide 1:100 incentive for that month. 1:20 and 1:50 are connecting covers.

I am amazed that people are not totally excited for golds as this is continuing Valiant tradition of gold covers

And, once again, variants are 100% necessary at this time in the game for Valiant. For yourselves, make a choice, but by being so vocally negative you are not helping anyone. Let's say someone else decides to not get the variants because of your rant. Their store now orders less books resulting in less Valiant comics on the shelves. That is the realworld impact your rant has on Valiant's future. Think about it.

I don't believe there was a rant on this thread, just opinions and discussion. Besides, if we can't express frustrations (not rants, mind you) here then where? I'm pretty sure my wife doesn't wanna hear about it. Her eyes would glaze over. :)
