Same here. X-O #1 made it possible through Aric's initial narrative starting on page 1: "Their skin is hard but this will pierce it! Look how their juices flow! Now it is not just my skin that suffers the fire-light. Ho! But here a Good Skin, it can protect me!" (ridiculously paraphrased)

We haven't seen anything like that yet, so it's very possible we won't going forward. Which brings us back around full-circle to the conversation about a dearth of narrative and dialogue in the present book.

Though I did think to myself, once Eric got the suit on, why his hand didn't grow back...
In the original books, the armor could heal you, but it took time. The healing was not immediate like Wolverine's healing factor.

about Aric losing his hand,

in the original Aric had the control ring that he would use to mentally call the armor when it wasn't on him. what i think they are doing here is that Aric will use the armor to make him a bionic hand that will function like the ring, to call it when it's not on him.

This is a cool idea that makes some sense... but if the armour has the healing capabilities like the original did, then I could see it just restoring the hand. I am kind of hoping that there will be no worn device like the old ring that allows control of Shanhara. It would be too easy and perhaps predictable to come up with stories revolving around stealing control of it.

However, if the armour implants a cybernetic device of some kind into it's chosen host, this would be much harder to steal/remove, and adds to the concept of bonding symbiotically with Shanhara, which I am assuming [at this point] is still a kind of living organism like the original... it might also explain the blood spurting when Aric [& the Vine alien in the first issue] first dons the armour... :hm:

V-ditty said something a while back about one new ability of the armor that will be very important through the first few arcs...I had forgotten about it until now, but I wonder if it may be related to the issue of the hand...

I was not expecting his hand to get chopped off either! I think it was great when he got his revenge on the alien that chopped it off. The end page with him in the armor was great.

Can't wait to get a copy of Harbinger now.

I loved the scene where Aric get's his hand chopped off, but what was even sweeter was when he got revenge and did the same to one of the aliens! All in all this book told a great story, I loved the escape scene and the fight that went down and I felt overall that this book gripped me throughout the time it took me to read it. You know, kind of as if it felt like it only took 10 seconds to read and then you feel depressed that you have to wait a whole month for a new issue so you read it 10 more times, lol.

The final pages of Aric donning the Shanhara armor was really cool too, it's nice to see him in full garb and I look forward to seeing him battle with it in issue #3!
