Valiant Comics mentioned on innerSPACE (tv)!!!
So, I have been pretty excited about this here relaunch... I want to see it become very successful. I decided I wanted to do something to help get a little more exposure for Valiant.
I tend to watch innerSPACE a lot... any fellow Canadian nerds around here will know that show, its a 1/2hr news program dedicated to all new things geek related on the Space channel. I was thinking it would be cool to see Valiant books get some mention on their 'On The Shelf' segment, or even get a brief segment dedicated to the relaunch. So I wrote in an email to them and said as much. Here's what happened;
Lets get Valiant mentioned on TV!! Chances are, most people who watch innerSPACE may already be buying the new Valiant stuff, but it can't hurt!!! Email them at Inner.SPACE@bellmedia.ca
If this were 20 years ago, I feel like maybe I'd get a gold logo variant for the promo idea, if it works

So, the next phase of this plan is to get more people to write in and make the same request - and what better place than here?Hi Josh,
Thanks for the suggestion! (I don't believe we've covered that, and we do love our comics) I've passed it along to the InnerSPACE team

Hi there,
I am a regular viewer of innerspace, its great having a [Canadian!] info/news show around devoted to all things geek
I love that you discuss comics quite often on the show, and I have a suggestion I'd love to see mentioned on the On The Shelf segment at some point - this summer Valiant comics have returned to stores and they are really impressive so far.
The 'Valiant Universe', as well as the company itself, was as huge as Marvel & DC back in the mid-90's, before being bought up by Acclaim & eventually collapsing. They have 4 new titles coming out during their self proclaimed 'Summer Of Valiant', releasing a new one each month of the summer. I think it would be cool to see one of these new releases at least briefly mentioned, or even giving Valiant some attention on the story of their return [if you have already that's cool - I must have missed it].
Thats all, thanks & keep up the great work on the show!
Josh

Great! Can you mention about Cary Nord to them when you send your email, lobo - I think Greg is right, it'll help sway them to do a Valiant bit, especially since he has an exclusive deal with them now...lobo wrote:![]()

If I were a Canadian fan of Valiant, I'd just be glad that the company didn't have a wait and see policy about the market, as in, wait and see til after The Cup returns to The Dominion.

Titles only matter if people watch the sport. As far as viewership, hockey's somewhere between women's water polo and Olympic curling, right?xodacia81 wrote:Chiclo wrote:You are interested in hockey and you live within driving distance of Canadia. What we need is innovation and even revolution—but not so much in the form of marketing ploys and doohickeys. What is needed is bold creative vision, excellent stories, and brilliant storytelling, in a word, entertainment. -- Jim Shooter

We just got a team back here in Winnipeg. There was a lot of dust being blown into my eyes at the home opener, I'll tell you that much... Grew up being a Jets fan, and was heartbroken when the NHL left. The last year has been unbelievable. Expensive, but fantastic...

You do make a good point. Hockey is an entertaining sport to watch and Nascar is not. I would argue that Nascar Nation is nothing short of a marketing ploy but I know more people who regularly watch Nascar than watch hockey on tv so I may have to concede your vicious and mean point.xodacia81 wrote:Only down south, but nobody up here counts the land of Nascar. My team broke a 42 year drought, won back to back titles and have been involved in 6 of the last 16 SCF's, winning 4 silver mugs. Even so, I have the good taste to appreciate even Chicago for being a damn fine team in 2010. I just hope my guys can reload after our captain retired. Best D-man since Orr.grendeljd wrote:Wha-? Oh, and to grendeljd...a Habs fan? You aren't the only one 'round these here parts. I do think you guys are a ways from being Cup ready, but you've assembled a nice staff. Would be nicer if you had snagged Hartley instead of The Flames, but alas, I suppose Quebecer Bob wasn't French enough for Montreal.

Actually, I myself am not a frenchman, which makes it difficult to like the Montreal organization & core local fan base sometimes... I don't like how they generally reacted to having Cunneyworth in there last year. I had french relatives around growing up, so I kind of inherited the team as my favourite. They have fallen far since '93...
Detroit is a class act organization, top to bottom. I hated it when they beat up on my other favourite team in '08, but revenge was served rather quickly in '09!!
