X-O #1 1:50 Variants on Ebay
Looks like there's (12) X-O #1 1:50 variants on Ebay. It appears the rush is over and the price is settling around $50-$75. Is this common practice for variants?

What surprised me is that there are so many now and the price dropped so fast.

You said the price is settling around $50 to $75, but I don't see any completed auctions below $60 (that were actual auctions), and the $60 was described as damaged.FormerReader wrote:What surprised me is that there are so many now and the price dropped so fast.greg wrote:Search for QR Voice Variants on Ebay
Another $71 copy was "VF/NM".
$75 is probably the current lower limit.

You are probably right. I said $50 to $75 just as an estimate. There were several ongoing auctions that were at $50, but will probably go higher. I thought it was a big change from the recent highs though.

Ongoing auctions really shouldn't be used to judge anything... only completed auctions... and then only those with auction bidding (not Buy-It-Now).FormerReader wrote:You are probably right. Unless there are no bids, completed auctions can be used to find an upper limit (or at least a price with little demand).
I don't remember seeing this one posted earlier today (but maybe it was). It's a $69.99 Buy-It-Now with $8.05 shipping: http://www.ebay.com/itm/290718266911" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
(The shipping cost might be calculated based on location.)

I think the fact that this hasn't been scooped up already says something about the direction this book has taken. A couple of weeks ago this book would have been long gone.greg wrote:I don't remember seeing this one posted earlier today (but maybe it was). It looks like a 1-day auction, which has only been live for about an hour.etos45 wrote:I think the fact that this hasn't been scooped up already says something about the direction this book has taken. I thought 3-day was as low as it went.

There's one up presently, But It Now for $71.95 (reduced from $79.95). One day left and still unsold. $3.95 shipping, rated 9.4 NM (according to him).
Looks like the trend is definitely downward atm. I wonder if an action packed #2 will rejuvenate interest.

There's always a lull. Only one issue out and not much story out yet.

as the person who made the very first post on this here website (not to toot my own horn
) , i can say that ive been watching valiants rise and falls for probably as long as greg, and i can say this , any significant valiant comic that has a print run of less than 1000 copies will retain a strong value ..especially a comic like this, i doubt in a year, that you will be able to find one for less than $100, provided nothing spectacular happens on 12/21/12 .

Re: X-O #1 1:50 Variants on Ebay
or a solar flare activates the latent DMT in the brains of all humanity causing us to have a species wide consciousness shifting experience and ushering in a new age of hu-man.. or aliens show up which would also cause a consciousness shift, to galactic consciousness, or nothing really.. its the end of the mayan calendar. google it
but back on topic, the QR books will be highly sought after and within 5 years will pretty much be impossible to find..

It's ok though, the world already ended twice already.Dr. Solar wrote:Dude. The world's gonna end.jmatt wrote:Okay, I'll bite: What happens on 12/21/12?
Once when Solar destroyed and remade it... and again when Valiant sold out to acclaim...
Humanity will bounce back yet again.
