I say we call it "Image" just toBlood of Heroes wrote:That's still not a reason not to refer to the new books as Valiant.greg wrote: Valiant 2012 tells when the universe (re-)started.
It's Valiant. It's back! It's f*cking go time. It doesn't say "Valiant 2012" on the covers and I'm not a member of Valiant2012fans.com.
Valiant is dead. Long live Valiant.

It's ValiantFans.com because it's ALL Valiant... old and new.Blood of Heroes wrote:That's still not a reason not to refer to the new books as Valiant.greg wrote: Valiant 2012 tells when the universe (re-)started.

Yes, they're all Valiant. Just like everything from Marvel is Marvel. That doesn't tell anyone anything useful.
You can refer to ALL of them as Valiant, if you want... but you're not clarifying anything.
We're talking about helping people who DON'T know what Valiant is.
At the moment, if anyone picks up a comic book with Valiant on the cover, there's a 50:1 chance it's a 1990s Valiant book.
The 1990s Valiant books aren't the current Valiant universe. 98% of all Valiant books in existence aren't from the current Valiant universe.
So, yes, by all means, let's confuse 98% so that you can be correct 2% of the time.
Actually, it does.Blood of Heroes wrote:It doesn't say "Valiant 2012" on the covers
70% of all Valiant 2012 books in print DO say Valiant 2012 on the cover... in GIANT letters and numbers.

...and for six months, 100% of the Valiant 2012 books will say Valiant and 2012 on the inside.

For the sake of beating a dead horse, and continuing an argument in which we all pretty much agree, but continue to argue anyway, I'm not sure your statement is correct Greg, because it does not take in to account opportunity, availability, and prominence.greg wrote:At the moment, if anyone picks up a comic book with Valiant on the cover, there's a 50:1 chance it's a 1990s Valiant book.
In many, many comic shops, if a person picked up a Valiant comic in the last two weeks, there is a 100% chance that it is a new Valiant comic, because There are no classic 90s VALIANT books in that store. My guess is that the majority of comic books with "Valiant" printed on the cover that have been picked up by a potential customer in a retail situation in the last two weeks have been new Valiant books.
So, I would say that if anyone picks up a comic with Valiant on the cover, there's at least a 50:50 chance it's a new Valiant book, if not higher.
So, suck on that 5% difference in our otherwise 95% agreement!

And I just figured out the answer.
Let's just refer to them as VALIANT and Valiant.
That should be immediately clear to everyone, right?

This post has been carefully constructed so as to add absolutely nothing to any discussion or topic.

I'd go with just VALIANT. If it becomes a dead universe again we can revisit this topic...hopefully we won't be.

Re: Is NVU the new Official Title of VH3?
Not that it matters, but FWIW in my comics inventory (spreadsheet) I now have four "publishers" of what we consider Valiant comics. These are the four I use (and why):
1. Valiant (technically the publisher was Voyager, but everyone knew them as Valiant)
2. Acclaim-Valiant (Acclaim was the publisher while Valiant was the imprint, similar to Dark Horse-Legends, or DC-Vertigo)
3. Acclaim (They dropped the imprint, I don't remember seeing any mention of Valiant on the 3rd iteration of Shadowman or in the 2nd iteration Armorines)
4. VEI (Valiant Entertainment Inc. - The new stuff)
1. Valiant (technically the publisher was Voyager, but everyone knew them as Valiant)
2. Acclaim-Valiant (Acclaim was the publisher while Valiant was the imprint, similar to Dark Horse-Legends, or DC-Vertigo)
