This (poorly-designed and somewhat-spamming) website seems to indicate something cool about "Avagis":Elveen wrote:A little birdy told me that there is something very cool about that name.comicsyte95 wrote:Cant wait to see why are the vine doing the plantings, and what will become of vine baby Avagis?

Re: X-O #1 SPOILERS THREAD! Read the book then this thread!
I'm 99% sure that I read Eternal Warrior was the cameo in one of the interviews. Going on that, I would say the guy on the bottom panel who says "Yes, my King." (when the king is talking about retreat) looks an awful lot like Gilad. That would be interesting too, because it means they would have been connected in the past as wellMarrowMan wrote:And side note; Who/what has the cameo in #1? The X-O armor itself? That seems to obvious. Or I just missed something?
The story was a very fun read. I'm also glad that they aren't rushing to get the armor or get Aric to the future. I also like how they are making him such a powerful warrior who is a bit impulsive. He's a hero, but his actions often lead to those he loves getting captured or killed. It gives him something to grow with. I'm also very curious to see where the replaced baby story goes. I'm guessing that is part of the "seed put into motion early on" that was mentioned in one of the interviews. The fact that they can clone themselves to look like other people is also a very interesting storyline they could use in the future.
One last thing, this story read REALLY quick for me. I don't know if it's because I was so sucked into the story or what, but I couldn't believe it when I was already on the last page of the story. X-O #2 cannot get here fast enough!!!

My suggestion is to read it again. I have read XO #1 like 7-8 times, honestly, each time it got better and I picked up some new small details.etos45 wrote:I'm 99% sure that I read Eternal Warrior was the cameo in one of the interviews. For example the 2 page Vine Baby pages can be "read" in few seconds, but they can also be "enjoyed" for a longer period of time.

Great catch! Yes, since this is the spoilers area, I think it's allowable to say that Gilad has scars on his face in the FCBD.etos45 wrote:I'm 99% sure that I read Eternal Warrior was the cameo in one of the interviews. Any reason to think that the "CHIRR-IP" sound from the baby hive alien is related to crickets?
(and if so, was the baby telling the temperature?)

Here's my crazy theory. You heard it here first.
Gilad is the dude that spears Aric's dad. And Aric chops his head off.
And Gilad's gonna remember that 1600 years later.

The "My King" guy returns to the battle and is hit with a spear.greg wrote:Great catch! The alien (Commander Trill) says "The others have already returned." "Load the survivors for transport."
Assuming the "my king" guy is Gilad, he would have survived the spear... he may already be on the ship.

Last page:
The captives on the ship appear to include a native American (either North or South).
Very hard to tell but the seated man with dark hair and skin might be an Aborigine.

OK, more on the Gilad speculation...greg wrote:The "My King" guy returns to the battle and is hit with a spear.greg wrote:Great catch! At the same moment, Alaric says "Fall back to the wagons! The lives of our FAMILIES depend on it!"
So, Gilad's FAMILY is back at the wagons.
At the Visigoth camp, we see the wagons.
At the Visigoth camp, the alien baby is swapped with a real baby.
Avagis is Gilad's baby? Avagis is taken by the aliens, and an alien baby is put in his place?

When I say it read fast, I don't really mean time-wise. It's just that I was at the end of the book before I was ready to be. I'm pretty sure it's a good thing, but I want my X-O #2 NOW!Elveen wrote:My suggestion is to read it again. Well, the spear (arrow?) that hits "My King" looked like it only got his shoulder, so I'm sure he's fine either way. It's a little blurry to tell if it's the same guy, but he sure talks like him.greg wrote:OK, more on the Gilad speculation...greg wrote:The "My King" guy returns to the battle and is hit with a spear.greg wrote:Great catch! I REALLY like the idea that Avagis is Gilad's baby. It would make so much sense as to why they would want that particular baby (or was that just the only baby that was there?).
If that is Gilad, I hope he goes out and kicks some Roman butt... I really feel for the Visgoths.

Maybe it grants a ring LATER when it finds a suitable owner (pun intended) like Aric.

A little birdy told me that when we see the FCBD and XO #1 we should be able to find the cameo. I looked, like a bunch and could not find what I was expecting..... (........um...... um...... gilad...... um.......)
Can we talk about whats on the back of the FCBD book yet............. put the whip down valiant I swear I want say a thing.

Gilad (in the old VH1) Never had any permanent scars. They always healed and then dissapeared (even his 4002 self, albeit slower) So what's with the scars now?

After read #3 I can't figure anyone else fitting the role of Gilad. His face is pretty detailed and the scars are very apparent...if it is him it brings up the question: "What weapon could scar the Eternal Warrior?"Dr. Solar wrote:Ok, after looking at it again, I'm on the "Gilad is the 'Yes, my King' guy" train. Gilad is my favorite character, so I was looking for him my first time reading the issue (FWIW, they said Gilad was going to be in the first issue a few months ago). I couldn't pick him out. If he is the "Yes, my King." guy, there is nothing that makes it clear within the issue itself.

Not a spoiler, but look at the very first page in the book. The pattern on one of the Visigoth's collar is a repeating x o pattern....
