Yeah I can kind of see it. South pointing V on the compass with the word Valiant underneath it as well?
Why is your Iphone camera such *SQUEE*??? LOL. None of your pictures came out that well but I have friends with Iphones and none of them look like this. Is it broken? Just curious

Yea I am pretty sure there was a compass there. It does say Valiant underneath and that big blob is a big #1. Sorry about the pics the room was dark and the screen was on the other side of the room from me so I had to zoom in to get what I did. It actually takes good snapshots under the right circumstances. I know johnseye filmed the whole thing. When he posts that you will be able to see it better, he had a big dslr on a tripod with a nice lens. I just thought you guys might like the tease!

So Valiant is going to be part of the New 52? -- or is it up to like 60 now?

Hmm, didn't realize that. And the other 8 pages are just reprints of something that appears elsewhere? That's uh, disappointing.etos45 wrote:At the risk of opening this nasty can of worms, it's not like the 40 pages are all original content.
Whaddya think? 28 pages of story and 4 pages of ads? It had better not be less than that for $4.etos45 wrote:Not to mention that future issues will still be $3.99 and 32 pages.
Which is a big concern. The folks on this board will probably justify the price -- but will other readers? Will a Marvel stalwart give up other Marvel titles to buy into this line? I hope they have some market research that supports this.etos45 wrote:Right now it's only $16 a month, which is doable, but what happens when there's 10-16 titles?

32 page book normally consist of 24-26 pages rest ads/editorials - todays market 3.99 is about right for that.
Marvel & DC charge 2.99 for 28 page books where only 20 pages are stories.

I would drop a ton of Marvel. - Except for Spider Man and Daredevil, both of which I've been reading fairly steadily since the mid - 80s No loss really, I pretty much did the same in the 90s the first time Valiant came around.

Re: Valiant C2E2 Panel was tweeted live (TRANSCRIPT IN HERE)
How is Daredevil? That was always my favorite. I picked up issue #10 and I'm hoping I like it enough to get back into it.

The new series is fantastic (if you can even find it, the early issues sold like ice picks to Inuit.)Crow331 wrote:How is Daredevil? That was always my favorite. I picked up issue #10 and I'm hoping I like it enough to get back into it.

The new Daredevil is a lot of fun. It is one of the only Marvel books I still get along with X-factor and Uncanny, and Captain America. I dropped all the Avengers stuff in anticipation of buying VALIANTS! I dropped all the DCs with the reboot too so I am primed!
Re: Valiant C2E2 Panel was tweeted live (TRANSCRIPT IN HERE)
Yeah I might have a hard time getting the early issues of DD. Where can I pick up from and not feel left behind? Like I said, I only picked up issue #10 so far and I'm not even sure where that is in the arc.

I thought it was already established that, XO #1 was 28 story pgs, 6 preview pgs of Harbinger #1, and the rest ads...etos45 wrote:At the risk of opening this nasty can of worms, it's not like the 40 pages are all original content. X-O is 32 pages of original content (including ads, I assume) and 8 pages of what seems to be the same Harbinger story that is in the C2E2 Preview, FCBD, and available online (plus I assume more ads). It's possible that won't be the case, as Valiant was a little vague on what the "Harbinger Preview" is going to be, but if it's the same old material, then I don't really count it with the page count. Not to mention that future issues will still be $3.99 and 32 pages. Also, is Marvel 20 pages at $3.99, or is DC 20 pages at $2.99? Because I heard it was the latter and I'm positive that isn't including ads. I only read one Marvel book, but I hadn't noticed the page size shrinking.agent_graves wrote:A lot of great news came out of C2E2, May 2 can't get here fast enuff...
And I really don't see why anyone would be complaining about a 40pg $3.99 book, because that same price point over at Marvel, only gets you 20pgs, if anything, people should be thanking Valiant...
I'm a little confused by what people mean when they say original content, why does seeing a preview of XO #1, make those same pgs in the actual book, unoriginal, I'm assuming that's what people mean because, we know these new number ones won't have reprinted material of old...
Dc charges $2.99 for 20pgs of story content, some issues even have the old 22pg standard...
Dc charges $3.99 for 22-28pgs of story content, some issue's are even 30 plus pgs...
Marvel also charges $2.99 for 20pgs of story content, but here's the problem so many people have with Marvel, myself included, they also charge $3.99 for books that feature the same amount of story pgs, as there $2.99 books...
So if Valiant is charging us $3.99 for 28pgs of story content in an oversized #1, and 22 story pgs thereafter, that's great compared to what Marvel is doing for it's fans....

I don't know if it was said or not, but I think someone in this thread said it's likely to be 24-26 pages of original story.agent_graves wrote:I thought it was already established that, XO #1 was 28 story pgs, 6 preview pgs of Harbinger #1, and the rest ads...
I'm not talking about the pages of X-O (though, you could make that argument if you wanted). I'm talking about the preview pages of Harbinger #1. It's in the C2E2, FCBD, Online, X-O #1, and Harbinger #1. So, when I say "original content", I mean that the preview of Harbinger #1 isn't exclusive to X-O, so I don't count it as page count. If it's there or not there would make no difference to me when deciding to buy the comic.agent_graves wrote:I'm a little confused by what people mean when they say original content, why does seeing a preview of XO #1, make those same pgs in the actual book, unoriginal, I'm assuming that's what people mean because, we know these new number ones won't have reprinted material of old...
I guess that's one way to look at it. From my point of view, it isn't working for Marvel. When they started moving some of the titles from $2.99 to $3.99 I dropped over 10 Marvel titles. All I buy now is Amazing Spider-man and that's hanging on by a thread now that I know it's only 21 pages of story.agent_graves wrote:So if Valiant is charging us $3.99 for 28pgs of story content in an oversized #1, and 22 story pgs thereafter, that's great compared to what Marvel is doing for it's fans....

I also have dropped plenty of Marvel titles I was following, I'll admit, their's still a few I get (W&tXM, UXF, USM) but $3.99 for 20pgs of content is just unacceptable, unless you really love the characters, and feel like it's worth it, and I know Marvel couldn't care less, but it's still some shameless *SQUEE*...etos45 wrote:agent_graves wrote:I thought it was already established that, XO #1 was 28 story pgs, 6 preview pgs of Harbinger #1, and the rest ads...I don't know if it was said or not, but I think someone in this thread said it's likely to be 24-26 pages of original story.I don't know how to post links while on my phone, but I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere, either Newsarama, or Cbr, in an interview with the creators...

There is a 10.1 issue that just came out. #10 is the end of the mole man story so might not make much sense.Crow331 wrote:Yeah I might have a hard time getting the early issues of DD. I asked the guy at Paradise comics and he said that the 10.1's are basically one shots for people who have never read Daredevil or something to that effect. If that's true then maybe I should either back up a few issues for the Mole Man story or really just start with a new story arc with issue #11 ? What issue is part 1 of mole man?

Oh yeah, I figured it out.agent_graves wrote:My apolgy etos45, I tried to break down each quote individually, and failed miseribly, hope my point will still come across.

If X-O #1 is 28 pages, then I'm guessing it's likely that the others will be too. X-O started at 32 pages, then it was increased to 40 when the Harbinger preview was announced. I think the preview was 7 pages long, right? Then throw in the cover or a splash for covers and that makes up the 40.
And I really believe that Marvel's decision to go to $3.99 was one of the worse decisions ever (next to reducing page count). I'm a little more forgiving of smaller companies charging more because that's how it's always been with the smaller print runs, but I don't see any reason Marvel can justify the need to charge so much when the quality isn't there, the page count isn't there, and the print runs are not that low. With them publishing Amazing Spider-man twice a month, I'm getting 40 pages or story for $8 a month. It hardly seems worth it. And what happened to advertising in comics? Almost every ad was for another comic series in the Marvel line... can't they get some real ads instead and get the cover price down?!

Is this the trade for the current series issues 1-6? I think so. I could get this and then pick up 7-9 cheaply probably and then be all caught up.
