WHY?!

It appears that Harley Quinn is the new breakout underground star in comics much like Deadpool was back in the'98-'00 era. Maybe due to the Batman cartoon.

According to CGC Batman: Mad Love is the issue with her origin out of DC continuity. Batman Adventure 12 is her first appearance out of DC continuity.

The strange thing is thats comic "sellers" (dealers/vendors/people selling at cons) consider all 3 her 1st appearance. All 3 have big value on the back issue market. But be careful mad love has different printings and a TBP.

I guess it's the cartoon. Maybe it's a bunch of sisters watching the cartoon with their brothers and identifying with the chick character (but I'm not sure that is even it). Not sure, but she sure is popular.

Harley has an innocence about her character that you don't see in modern comics. She has rare dark moments, usually involving the Joker, but those dark moments are infrequent enough to give her depth.

Certain characters such as Harley Quinn always sell well and it's worth watching for new and future 'overlooked' appearances - hence Suicide Squad.

I'm sure that the Arkham Asylum and Arkham City video games had something to do with Harley Quinn's popularity as well. More people played those games than read any one Batman comic in, well, ever.

In his most recent email, Chuck Rozanski comments on how difficult some of the last issues of Groo are to find. If Mile High wasn't able to come across them after this long, (until now) that really hits home.

"particular issues from the end of the Marvel/Epic GROO run are so hard to find that we still do not have cover scans on a couple of them, even after 15 years of searching!"

Publication wise: Iron Man 55 (02/73) - Captain Marvel 25 (03/73) Thanos War Pt 1 even though Thanos doesn't appear until Captain Marvel 26.

However continuity wise Thanos appears in Avenegers 118 which chronologically takes place before Iron man 55 so
