Issue by issue synopsis?
I've been re-reading my collection for the last few weeks. Is there an issue-by-issue synopsis on the board that will help me remember where I last left off as I jump from title to title?

Hmm, two days now and no responses. Do we need such a thing?
I'm thinking maybe a 5 bullet point (max) of each issue, highlighting the gist of every issue. I'm 40 issues into my reread, perhaps I could undertake such a task...

Re: Issue by issue synopsis?
I know if you look through he old valiant site (try something like the way back machine) it has a summary of each comic. It isn't differentiated issue by issue, but... There may have been one for the Gold Key characters at one time, but I never could find one.
Hey, look! I have a podcast!
And a Website!

In addition, I'm right.

It's quite a project but one I would imagine is worthwhile.jmatt wrote:Hmm, two days now and no responses. Do we need such a thing?

Quite a few of the later issues might be hard to come up with five bullet points.

Re: Issue by issue synopsis?
Here's what I grabbed from the old Valiantcomics.com site as an abbreviation to Eternal Warrior.
http://valiantvsmarvel.weebly.com/eternal-warrior.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's on my silly little crazy project to re-read Valiant. The summary comes from the old Valiant site - and follows most of the line.
But for reference, it has much of the info.

Yeah, I'm actually considering doing this. I'm only 40 books in, it wouldn't take but a few minutes per book...
Re: Issue by issue synopsis?
I once started a database based on the Continuity Bible. Maybe that can be revived if enough people want to create short synopsis.jmatt wrote:Chiclo wrote: Quite a few of the later issues might be hard to come up with five bullet points.

Re: Issue by issue synopsis?
I started this the other night -- and it took me waaay more than a couple of minutes per book. I ran through a few issues of Magnus and here's what it looked like:jmatt wrote:... it wouldn't take but a few minutes per book...
Magnus
#1
1. 1-A recounts his origin, how he gained freewill by power-surges and how he trained Magnus; also how Magnus defeated evil super-freewill T-1 years before.
2. Freewill leader 0-1X contacts other freewills including W-23, plans insurrection. Freewills begin to rebel.
3. President Claiburne considers a peaceful resolution, Leeja’s father, Senator Clane, disagrees.
4. Magnus defends North-Am, infiltrates secret freewill rally and tries to negotiate peace, now understanding their plight.
5. Timbuc attacks, rally scatters, spoils Magnus’ attempt and his credibility, Leeja injured.
#2
1. Magnus continues defending North-Am, nears exhaustion. Is repelled by vivisection of freewill. Leeja recovers.
2. Freewills try to regroup; W-23 senses Magnus’ sympathy, extends a hand of friendship; Magnus considers, agrees to meet again on Goph level.
3. Magnus and Leeja bicker; other freewills attack Magnus in hordes, Magnus tries to reason with 0-1X, he rejects.
4. Clane and Timbuc attempt to arrest Magnus for letting 0-1X go; Magnus escapes, now on the run from authority.
#3
1. Freewills continue assault; society seems oblivious even though Central-Rob, the Mainbrain, is in danger.
2. W-23 rescues Magnus from arrest attempt on Goph levels; they bond and Magnus collapses from exhaustion.
3. Government council realizes danger, is attacked and President Claiburne killed. Giardino discovers that freewills can be identified by extremity tremors.
4. Magnus is torn; returns to Central-Rob, brief encounter with goph scavenger Elzy on the way. Magnus and Leeja argue and breakup over the freewill issue.
5. Elzy unwittingly helps a reluctant W-23 embed 0-1X with the mind of the original freewill, T-1. With the help of Elzy, W-23 assumes the form of Tekla in an effort to resemble Leeja and be more acceptable to humans.
6. 0-1X, now powered by the brain of T-1, takes control of the Mainbrain and orders the freewill destruction of mankind.
I'm not sure if I have this in me.

Re: Issue by issue synopsis?
I started to re-read a few years ago. I only got half way through. I tried to do a very quick one line summary of each book highlighting first appearances and such, but when I got into the crappy books, I ended up just going with "sucks" and things like that. It's in this section here. One day, I'll get back to it.
It takes alot of time to summarize everything. That's the only pita about doing a 5 point summary.

Re: Issue by issue synopsis?
Indeed. I found myself flipping forward and backward trying to decide what was important enough to note and what could be ignored. Took me twice as long to do each summary as it did to just read the book straight through.400yrs wrote:It takes alot of time to summarize everything. Re: Issue by issue synopsis?
dig back through the back pages in the rereading...I know I summarized a certain amount of solar and magnus...but lost steam, because it takes a lot of time to write them
Why waste time learning, when ignorance is instantaneous?
