The Turok story arc was cool despite the rushed art of the last two issues. The regular Solar artwork just kept getting worse with the inkers going sharpie marker crazy on the artwork in each issue.

Were any of the stories anything like the old Valiant stories? I mean with Shooter involved, some dangling story line could be used, right?

Some of that subtle stuff Shooter does was slowly starting to unfold, and I believe was planned throughout the line.Ross2 wrote:Were any of the stories anything like the old Valiant stories? I mean with Shooter involved, some dangling story line could be used, right?

Particularly in Solar. I remember that Shooter was saying something about Turok and Samson being roughly symmetrical in their displacement in time from Solar's white event.StarBrand wrote:Some of that subtle stuff Shooter does was slowly starting to unfold, and I believe was planned throughout the line.Ross2 wrote:Were any of the stories anything like the old Valiant stories? There were several things bleeding together. The last issue of Magnus essentially sets up that Nuro from Solar somehow had been transported to Magnus' time. There was much left unfinished. Very sad to see it die.

Re: Gold Key characters in 2012 thread
I have the first 4 issues of the Dr Solar, the first 2 or 3 of Magnus, and only #1 of Turok, I thought they were pretty meh.

Re: Gold Key characters in 2012 thread
I'll agree, those issues weren't the best, though I liked Turok 1. The line really got going right around the time the next issues after the ones you mentioned came out.MarrowMan wrote:I have the first 4 issues of the Dr Solar, the first 2 or 3 of Magnus, and only #1 of Turok, I thought they were pretty meh.

A lot of people did the exact same thing. The early ones frankly made a pretty good chunk of the potential readers of this line quit doing so, it seemed.MarrowMan wrote:DOH Just my luck to quit AS THEY WERE ABOUT TO GET GOOD

well good thing is, they shouldn't be too hard to track down some back issues.

Yeah, You can probably get them cheaper than cover price, though the last issue of Dr Solar may be hard to track down.

Closing in on halfway through the year, and still nothing on the line.

Does anyone know for sure if Dark Horse still has the license for these? It would seem pretty strange to lease the IP for a set of characters and then not publish anything with them.

I don't think anyone knows for certain if they still do or not. To my knowledge, Dark Horse has never released an official statement. We were talking about the GK characters in this thread and someone posted a statement Janet Jackson made last year about Dark Horse dropping the books due to the high price of the license, low sales and increasing interference from Classic Media.SJS4 wrote:Does anyone know for sure if Dark Horse still has the license for these? Didn't they have the license quite awhile before launching the Dark-Key line?Daniel Jackson wrote:I don't think anyone knows for certain if they still do or not. The 2006 licensing sheet says Dark Horse has the rights "to produce new & original adult fiction & graphic novels/comics".StarBrand wrote:Didn't they have the license quite awhile before launching the Dark-Key line?

PS, they also say that Dynamic Forces and Shocker Toys had licenses.

Hahaha....I almost forgot about that horrible looking "Shockini" Solar they were working on. Here's a link to the original thread. I don't think the picture links are valid anymore though.StarBrand wrote:Daniel Jackson wrote:Hahaha....I almost forgot about that horrible looking "Shockini" Solar they were working on. Anyone remember if they ever did a Magnus prototype?

I don't recall ever seeing pics of one. Perhaps Magnus was going to be part of a second wave and they just never got around to it.magnusr wrote:Anyone remember if they ever did a Magnus prototype?
