Mighty Crusaders return (Red Circle) - the New Crusaders
Link here for NY Times article.
Looks like a legacy generation of Mighty Crusaders characters, and tonally quite a lot lighter than say DC (especially) or Marvel; basically this sounds perfect for me.
Digital release first, including archive material, then later possible TPB collection I believe.

Looks promising. The industry desperately needs more all-ages material. I don't do digital, but I'd definitely like to check the trades out.

It is that all-ages sensibility that most appeals to me. DC are really turning me off books with their more adult-orientated approach.Tim wrote:Looks promising. The industry desperately needs more all-ages material. I don't do digital, but I'd definitely like to check the trades out.

Yep, me too. It's ironic to me that gruesome violence and over-the-top sexuality are what people consider "mature" storytelling these days. The last time I remember being interested in either one of those, I think I was around 11.leonmallett wrote:It is that all-ages sensibility that most appeals to me. Spoilers below......
In the new DC stuff I've picked up I saw a room full of very realistically drawn decapitated corpses (Batwing), a character's face skinned (Detective Comics), Green Lanterns decapitated on panel (Green Lantern Corps...I think), an infant possessed and ultimately exploded by a demon (Demon Knights), livestock decapitated and someones arm hacked off (Wonder Woman), a crime scene with a man with dozens of knives sticking out of his body (Batman). I don't care to see that in my comics. Most, if not all of these books were rated "T", which means 12 and older. It's not just DC either, I have to say, but I do feel that Marvel's ratings system is more in line with the actual content of their books.
I know there's a certain level of violence that is called for in a superhero comics. Generally speaking, they are, after all fighting against evil, but I just don't see the need for it to be so explicit and disturbing. Take the first issue of Aquaman for example. The last page or so. You know that something horrible has happened to someone. No question about it. But there was nothing on those pages that I wouldn't show a 10-year-old. Uncharacteristic for Geoff Johns, I know, but I applaud him and Ivan Reis for taking the high road and letting our imaginations fill in the unpleasantness rather that be gratuitous.

Drift and myself try all the books like this, again as you say DC are pushing the boundaries a bit to far with some books i like, so this is cool to see,

I trade as Dead Universe Comics in the UK, which is no surprise to those who know of my legendary Dead Universe habit.

I was a fan of the !mpact line back in the day and that was really my first exposure to this line and these characters. So I've got a soft spot for them. I'm looking forward to this.
I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

I don't have a cell phone, ipad, or an e-book reader and my PC has enough junk on it so I'll wait for print copies.

Re: Mighty Crusaders return (Red Circle) - the New Crusaders
I'm very happy to hear this, I love the Mighty Crusaders. I was bummed that DC didn't keep the characters as I think Web and Shield could have really been done just as well as The Question and Blue Beetle in the larger DC-verse.

The link above has some info on the new Steel Sterling:

The link above has some info on the new Steel Sterling:
Flynn describes Steel Sterling as "your classic 'gentle giant;' nigh-invulnerable and super strong. He's the most devoted to the idea of the team and honoring the legacy of his father, the first Steel Sterling." The writer will be re-teaming with Sonic the Hedgehog artist Ben Bates for the new adventures of this legendary team, who Flynn describes as "in a word, amazing".

With the rebooted DC? I'd agree - not enjoying very much of it so far.
