WTF?!? FF #600 ---> $7.99???????!!!!!!!!!

Weren't the 100 page issues that they did for Thor and Cap or whoever like $4.99 or $5.99? Has there ever been a more expensive single issue? WTF?

Silver embossed super-awesome card-stock pages boarded with an ultra-exclusive random card. Comes with 1-5 variant, 1-10 variant, 1-100 variant, and one out of every 100 variants comes signed. Only one thousand of those comes with a personalized letter from the creators. But EVERY copy includes Stan Lee shaking his head in shame and disgust.
All issues come polybagged. Standard. For protection, of course.

I still have respect for Stan. Sold out as he did - at least he started the ball rolling with stories.

I refuse to spend more than $5 for a current comic.
Pull List: I only buy TPB's, HC's and Hellboy comics
Re: WTF?!? FF #600 ---> $7.99???????!!!!!!!!!
I thought Marvel Point One was expensive at 5.99.

I think Fables # 100 was 9.95, but that was hardstock and had pullouts and games and backup stories and was actually part of a series that has a writer that isn't a hack.400yrs wrote:![]()

Anyone who combines all the best elements of a contemporary form of media could be classified in this way... and then you'd be discounting more than half of all the major artists, directors, writers, musicians etc. in any form of media.OmenSpirits.com wrote:In comparison to his contemporaries as writers, he was a *SQUEE* hack!kevinbastos wrote:I still have respect for Stan. Anyone remember the days when a "prestige format book" was about this price. Cardstock covers and square bindings - usually some kind of one shot or something? Anniversary issues were a buck fifty. The good old days.

Yep. The 90's. Most of the DC Elseworld books were like that.IMJ wrote:Anyone remember the days when a "prestige format book" was about this price. Cardstock covers and square bindings - usually some kind of one shot or something? Anniversary issues were a buck fifty. The good old days.

I pay Marvel very little attention. Outside of the movies based on Marvel characters, I don't much care for the Cult of Uncle Stan.Doorman wrote:he's been writing it since 2009. Who'd you think it was?xodacia81 wrote:It's Hickman now? Ok, half a hack.Doorman wrote:Hickman ... a hack?

I've really been enjoying his run on Fantastic Four.
Much better than the previous "hot" writer: Mark Millar.

Wanted was a decent read. His early Ultimate X-Men stuff was entertaining too, but Millar grows thin on me really quickly.xodacia81 wrote:The only thing I can remember "sort of" enjoying from Millar was/is Kick-*SQUEE*.Doorman wrote:I've really been enjoying his run on Fantastic Four.

I feel the same. It's like his stuff starts awesome but by the second issue or so, it's just average and you lose interest.IMJ wrote: but Millar grows thin on me really quickly.
I think it's because he is good at developing movie pitches, but isn't so great at writing a whole tale.

How many pages is a standard comic? between 20 and 25, something like that? At $2.99 or 3.99 four issues (ie. the equivalent page count) you are looking at $10-14.
100 pages of original material by solid creative teams for 8 bucks doesn't really seem so bad. If that were bound better, you would be finding that on Graphic novel shelves for $15-18 as marvel are beasts when it comes to TPB prices.

Well, in sorta related news, I read the first several issues of Jonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four, and rather liked it. I think I got the first five or six issues.
Does it stay good up to issue 600?

FF is the best book Marvel is putting out right now. The Fantastic Four was replaced by the Future Foundation. And then they put together the best superhero team EVER.Dr. Solar wrote:Well, in sorta related news, I read the first several issues of Jonathan Hickman's run on Fantastic Four, and rather liked it. A standard $2.99 comic is 20 story pages, down from 22 pages just a year ago.
How many actual story pages was that issue?
