That's another one that is in the big plan. I keep referring to it as the Dark Key Epitaph.400yrs wrote:You guys still need to review the Dark Key books. I think all that was discussed was Solar 1 and Magnus 1.

I liked the non-Valiant talk of the last podcast. More focus and talk on the other new books out there. Make moar of those please.

Well, I hear it, but does anyone else not hear Sean. Like it's stereo, but not working.

File is good, but as 400yrs noted, can't hear Sean at all. He's extremely low in the mix, everyone else sounds fine...

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
There is a problem with the mix. Obviously. I thought I did everything the same as usual, but I must have botched a step.
It will get fixed tonight.
In the future, can you guys PM me when there is a problem, or message me on twitter or something? I don't always check the boards, so I need something that will send a notification when there is a problem.
Thanks!
And again, it will get fixed tonight when I can remaster the file.

FIXED!
Somehow, I managed to set the audio level for my audio track to "off" in my mixing software and didn't catch it.
I guess the quality control team took the afternoon off

We're working on a licensing contract to have episode of OTV played in Dentist Offices when you get cavities filled.

Only half way through, but I've already ordered Moriarty 1-5. You only have to tell me 17 times that something is good before I listen.
Thankfully, the other choices so far I either have or have read a good bit of, otherwise this could be an expensive podcast.

Only The Valiant Podcast
Loved the episode! It was a really great discussion and you guys have given me some new titles to check out. My desert island list would be:
3) Dark Knight Returns
2) Claremont's Uncanny X-Men run
1) Sandman
and Solar for my Valiant run.
It was great hearing you guys talk about getting into these books for the first time. I started a bit earlier, but your recollections mirrored mine almost exactly. I'm really digging the new show format too btw. Keep up the great work!

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Good episode! That was my first one. I looked up a little about Moriarty but I am more intrigued by Fables and Scud. I'm totally putting those on my Christmas list.
Black Science. Lazarus. Birthright. Saga. Manifest Destiny. Deadly Class.
Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Finished the podcast, now I gotta buy Fables.
And I want to come up with my own list. I've got 2 of my 3 picked, and my Valiant pick, but can't quite decide on that last spot.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
If all you guys are reading Sandman, don't forget that one of you need to pack black fingernail paint. Someone else must pack Bauhaus and someone else brings the mascara!
Pansies!!
For my list, I had to pull out doomsday type books because if I was trapped on a desert island, I wouldn't want to read anything about being lost or darker type sfuff.
3. Proof
2. Fables vol 1-10
1. Invincible (all)
Valiant - Shadowman
one trade - I Kill Giants
Books I'd take if I wasn't trapped on a desert island (not a doomsday scenario):
3. Watchmen
2. Scalped
1. Invincible
Valiant - Shadowman
One trade - Bone (complete ed)

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
This was possibly my favorite episode yet of the podcast! It's nice to see the show open up a little to include some non-Valiant stuff since the Valiant news is somewhat scarce at times, but you still had a Valiant point of focus for this episode and it was really cool to hear you speak so enthusiastically about the Valiant runs you picked. As I was listening and considering what you guys were choosing for your runs, I found that I was having a very difficult time narrowing down choices for myself. The Valiant choice was probably the hardest of all to make!
I must admit, several of the runs mentioned I haven't read, such as Sandman, and I've only read the first 2 Fables trades. I love that Sean chose the entire Claremont-era X-Men; probably one of the most epic and consistent runs in mainstream comics, and if you included all the side issues/annuals/miniseries that Claremont wrote in addition to the regular Uncanny X-Men issues, you probably beat the 200-issue mark.
These would be my choices:
3) Proof
2) The Alan Grant/Norm Breyfogle Detective/Batman run
1) Grant Morrison's New X-Men run
Valiant) Magnus 1-36 (I believe that's the one that concludes/epilogues the Malev War)
I have to admit that I'm now very curious to read Sandman, and if I decide to buy it, I'll probably just go all-out and get the Absolute volumes. This also got me interested in reading Fables again. I did enjoy the first 2 trades (which have come up missing now), but I'm really interested in seeing it expand out to this grand scale that you guys discussed.

Re: Only The Valiant Podcast
Finished reading Moriarty 1-5 yesterday, and while it didn't make my desert island list it is quite good and I look forward to reading more. At the moment my list is:
3. Powers
2. Dark Knight Returns
1. Sandman
Solar for my Valiant run.
That #3 spot changes pretty regularly, but this week Powers makes the cut. Especially since the floppies have a great letter column to read as well.
