CEAR numbers?
I know it's a rare book. I have never actually laid eyes on one. Seen a Unity Zero Red though. Like that's very rare these days it seems. Does anyone know how many of these were even printed? I just don't ever recall anyone ever saying so. I know the print runs were also quite low towards the end of the original Valiant Heroes run. Just curious.

There were approx. 5,000. Click on the price guide tab and you will find the print run for ervy Valint and Acclaim issue.

Okay. Still, only 5,000? Do we even know how many of those actually made it into people's hands? Crazy low number. I guess that's why it's so expensive. I appreciate the info.FormerReader wrote:T2KFreeker wrote:I know it's a rare book. I have never actually laid eyes on one. Seen a Unity Zero Red though. Like that's very rare these days it seems. I know what you mean, man. I only have one CEAR and three Unity Reds.T2KFreeker wrote:I know it's a rare book. I have never actually laid eyes on one. Seen a Unity Zero Red though. I picked up my first Unity Red for about $9 shipped.

Re: CEAR numbers?
My guess is that all of the Unity Reds were distributed, so they're more easily found today, but they're less likely to be found more than one or two at a time.
I've always felt like it's possible for hundreds of CEAR to be found somewhere sometime. I just can't figure out how to become the guy who finds them.

Might need to get clarification on the print run number - according to the letter that came from bernard Chang the print run was 2500.T2KFreeker wrote:Okay. Still, only 5,000? Here's a copy of the letter. Maybe the price guide should be updated to 2,500 copies?

2,500 now. Well, that would explain why I have never ever seen one in the wild. Seriously, I know it isn't the greatest book in the Valiant run qualitywise between the covers, but that is some rare stuff right there either way.

I wonder how many of them were signed by Bernard Chang as give-aways to retailers.

Re: CEAR numbers?
I can remember thinking WAY back when - AND much more recently - I'll never have one of these... Then bought one at a reasonable rate. I've gone back to it quite a few times - just to make sure I hadn't dreamed it - and really thought - this makes my collection. It turned me from a collector to a hoarder - wanting to get THEM ALL! Re: CEAR numbers?
I once found 2 Bernard signed CEARs back to back in a long box of Valiants at Frank and Sons (a bi-weekly convention type thing-y). Good day. I've never found a Unity Red in the wild. I've seen them on dude's walls, but not just in a box.

Yeah? So what was the damage on it? Price wise, I mean? Re: CEAR numbers?
Anyone know how many regular Chaos Effect Alphas a store had to order to receive a red (the non-signed ones)? I think one of the coolest finds I had was once I came across a stack of the Chaos Effect Alpha books and included in the stack was a red. None of them were bagged, so my thought was that this stack was probably the original batch a store had ordered and they had ordered enough to earn one of the reds.
I have had luck finding CEAR's in the wild for low prices many times. I know one copy I paid 10 cents for, and the other was from a 3/$1 box and I think there were at least a few more I had come across.

Re: CEAR numbers?
Well... I didn't get lucky - I bought from a board member - along with a TON of other stuff. I bought four books - Chaos Effect Alpha Red, Bloodshot 6 VVSS, and both X-O Manowar VVSS's for $65. Considering that CEAR could go for $65 on its own, I thought it was a decent deal.T2KFreeker wrote:Yeah? So what was the damage on it? Price wise, I mean? I'll try to look back through my notes about CEAR. At one point, I think I did have 2,500 to 5,000 as the estimated print run, so I might have gotten additional info from a Valiant employee about it.

Dude that is a phenominal deal, I think I paid over or near $100 for my CEAR three years ago.

I've been to almost every comic book store in PA and I have never seen ANY Pre-Unity or any Valiant premiums in any discount bins. Most shops are lukcy to be open and they have to nickel and dime everyone. Most shops do not have any quarter/50 cent or dollars bins, and if they do, all the stuff is just trash you would throw away.

Come to Pittsburgh - Pittsburgh Comics - great guy, expanding store - decent quarter bins - and always running a sale. Good back stock - and another storage down below.

I think I have about 30 Unity Reds and 10-11 CEARs. I was really trying to get them back in 08-09 so that really shows to me how much harder they are to get [CEARs].
In fact, I know someone with at least 100 Unity Reds
