Auction problem advice

my personal rule is never believe a book on ebay is NM unless it's graded and in a case that says CGC. furthermore, i believe the old timers from this site are good on their word when they offer up a NM raw copy. this board has its own feedback and dispute resolution system, and i've never had a bad experience. the one time i did receive an item broken that i purchased from someone here, i was given a full refund and told to keep it.
that's right, i said old timers.

I'm not at the CGC level yet. Gotta buy a house sometime this year first, and even then... pricey.
I sent him one last reply before I go for the paypal/ebay refund route.
Thanks for all the advice, this has been somewhat entertaining.

Come on, it's right here in your listing.
Harbinger # 1 First Issue (with coupon)
This comic has never been read.
The coupon (1 of 3) for Harbinger 0 (which is no longer valid) is still inside.
The plastic case has cracked over time but the comic is in NM condition.
By the way it says nothing that the comic was never touched by human hands, nor that the case was never opened, just that it is unread. I have hundreds of comics that are unread, that doesn't mean too much. I still had to handle them to put them in bags/boards. Obviously someone had to touch it to put it in that case, they didn't come from Valiant comics that way. How did you know it had the coupon inside if you hadn't looked?
$15 is a nice offer but doesn't work as that means I'd still have paid $21.30 for a comic that I wouldn't have bought otherwise. Lets just do the refund and get this over with. I can start the process with paypal, or eBay and get that done.

I agree with Brother J. If he advertise as NM, in order for you to verify you have to take out of the case.Brother J wrote:His claim about the book not being in the condition it was in when you received it because you removed it from whatever crappy case he had it in is a bunch of bull$hit. It didn't come from Valiant factory sealed in a case! Of course you would take it out and inspect it, the seller should have done the same before selling it and calling it NM. Since he used the grade NM, he should have made sure the book was in that condition.
I have a feeling this guy's going to be a d*ck. I would probably ask him specifically for a full refund and if he doesn't comply, you'll probably have to go the Paypal refund route.

He apparently doesn't even know his own Return Policy. Does not say one thing about the condition of the book when returned. But opening a case has no bearing on the books condition.RETURN POLICY
Satisfaction is always strived for. Items are described as much as possible. More pictures of an item are available upon request. Feel free to ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. Messages are answered several times a day. There is a 2 day inspection period for all purchases. Buyer is responsible for all return shipping charges. Refunds will be given minus the shipping price if items have been in any way misrepresented. Refunds will be given once returned item has been received. DO NOT cut off the tag if item comes with one.
How exactly did you determine it was NMscorpionlotus wrote:I've never opened it so I don't know what it looked like on the inside.
Was he able to verify this as well through plastic?scorpionlotus wrote:Harbinger # 1 First Issue (with coupon)
And this?
scorpionlotus wrote:I know the cover was not loose when I sent it to you
scorpionlotus wrote:Since you have stated that you opened it, it is no longer in the condition it was in when I sent it to you either (unopened).
Hmmmm sounds like it was already not "unopened" when you received.scorpionlotus wrote:I did state that the plastic case was cracked
Wrong the auction was for a NM Harbinger #1 w/coupon not a "cracked unopened" case. The only condition that changed was you finished opening a case that was already partially opened. Nit Picky I admit but it seems to be how this guy operatesscorpionlotus wrote:since you admit to opening it you have voided that option.

How many times does he have to say itscorpionlotus wrote:Since you are unsatisfied but admit to opening an item that was unopened
I guess the Spider Aliens packed it in the plastic casescorpionlotus wrote:an item that was unopened and not handled by human hands before you opened it
And I saved the very best for last
THEN DO NOT USE TERMS LIKE NM!!!!scorpionlotus wrote:I am not a grader and that is not my profession.
