And here I am in sunny San Diego!
Just got checked in, went for a walk down by the convention center and gaslamp, talked to the chicks that are first in line for Hall H for the Twilight panel Thursday morning, and got a pinkberry salt and caramel ice cream cone.
I think I might go for a short jog along the water to get some exercise, then get on with stuff. I might be meeting a work colleague tonight for a drink, not sure yet.

Did about five hours at the con today, just kind of soaking it in. Thought about going to the Game of Thrones panel but did not want to wait three hours (and then I talked to a friend who waited 3.5 hours and did not make it in ... Good call on my part).
Picked up some free crap, bought some Invincibles I needed and some Iron Man variants pretty cheap. Cut back to my hotel for swim-beer-nap and now I'm ready for some trivia and poker.
I love this city, might have to check out some jobs while I am here, haha.

That was a good time. This trip is definitely living up to expectations.Dr. Solar wrote:You see, the great thing about a show like SDCC is that you get to hang out outside on a warm summer evening after the show and drink a 6 pack of beer with depluto.
Draco, sorry about not helping you out in SD. I have my kid with me and we are pretty much just rushing from place to place. The con center is like a small city packed with nerds and strippers.

cheers

Did anyone get a Valiant t-shirt from Fred? I saw the tweet about an hour after it was sent out. I didn't want to have to leave the con to go all the way over to the Omni hotel to get one only to find he wasn't there anymore. I wish they had given them out at the con like they said. I would of liked to have gotten one. Had my Shadowman t-shirt on all day today but didn't run into any Valiant fans.
I had a great day of panels yesterday for a rare comic-con change. I waited only about an hour for Hall H (ballroom 20 seemed to be the hot spot yesterday. My buddy waited 6 hours in that line and missed the Big Bang Theory panel). I got in on the Fright Night, 30 minutes or less, Ghost Rider, Total Recall and Spiderman panels. They were all very funny. Probably the best set of panels I have ever sat in on at Comic-con. Colin Farrell is a pretty funny dude and the 30 minutes or less panel was hysterical. Aziz Ansari is one of the funniest dudes out there and this movie looks hilarious and I'm not big on comedies.
Just when I told my friend I probably wouldn't come back next year because it was too hard to get into panels and I would wait in lines for hours and get nothing out of it, I land 5 great panels. I also got my favorite hotel for the first time in 10 years, the Manchester Grand. Great con overall. I guess I will be back next year afterall.

Fred showed up with the shirts Thursday night at the poker game. I don't have a picture to post at the moment (or the energy) but I'll get one up when I post pictures of the night.

I know, I know. This is a draining four days. I'm leaving the house to hit it one more time. There will be pictures, I assure you.

Ok. Great Con this year. There were more people dressed up than ever. Tons of just regular folk dressed up as their favorite whatever. My favorite booth was Pan Am. I guess they're coming out with a tv show about Pan Am stewardesses in 1963. The booth was a section of airplane fuselage 'manned' by the cutest girls dressed as Pan Am stewardesses. The plane however, was impossible to get on. You needed to follow them on twitter to find out how to get a boarding pass to get on the plane. Sunday I managed to sweet talk one of the girls into giving me a pass. I really was trying to get into her uniform but I settled on the pass. Once on board, it was really nothing special. It was a scaled down flight simulator and the in flight entertainment was a preview of the show. When you got off the plane you were handed a Pan Am duffel bag. In reality, it was little more than going through great lengths to watch a commercial, but the girls were so godd@mned cute it was still my favorite experience of the Con. ...Especially that one stewardess, Anya.
I regret that I didn't get any pictures myself, but here are some from the interwebs...

The rest of these are some I took...
Creepy Christofer Reeve wax statue

Sith Cheerleader

Leeloo (this was the most flattering shot. She gets an "E" for effort...)

Indiana Jones and Marian Ravenwood (Marian was my favorite. Who thinks to dress up as her???)

Han in carbonite ice trays/jello (shots) mold

Captain EO

Bruce Campbell

Abed, from Community, dressed as Marty McFly and playing with a Deloreon

I think that's all for now. I've got pictures of poker night that I'll get up in that thread shortly...
